Previously with Willie Mullins, he swapped Closutton with Ditcheat, where he has since won two Graded events and finished second in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham last year.

In last years race he was sent off the hot favourite. Golan Fortune took the three-runner field along for most of the race but a bad mistake down the back straight cost him dearly. Harry Cobden took it up down the straight and despite the best efforts of Fiddlerontheroof he was not for catching.

Unfortunately, he is out for the rest of the season but he should be back next year.

Sixteenth in the 2020 champion bumper, he got off to a flying start over hurdles, winning two before turning up here. Richard Johnson had built up a great relationship with the Tom Lacey trained gelding and he got a great tune out of him.

Richard Johnson bounded out in front to lead the eleven-runner field along and made it a real test. Despite looking like he might get passed, he kept finding for pressure, with the line just coming in time to deny the late charge of Mint Condition. A fantastic race we will be hoping for more of the same this year.

Sent off the well punted 7/2 favourite. Notachance was making it two wins from two since a 300-day break. He was given a 7lb rise after his win at Bangor and fairly relished the 3m 5f stamina sapping test.

Notachance was unexposed at the trip and had every right to progress and take this race. Tom Cannon kept him just off the pace and hugged the rail to save ground.

Despite only being the fourth sevenyear-old to win this race, he toughed it out well and showed a good level of grit to win by half a length.
