The last few days have honestly felt quite surreal! It’s not quite been a case of blowing the cobwebs off everything, but not far from it. Although we have had owners back at the track for a while, it has been over seven months since we “sold” a ticket to one of our race meetings. That was back in September at our Pilot event. Prior to that day, when just under 500 people visited the course, our most recent public attendance was back in March 2020. Therefore, I ask in advance for your understanding, if the team appear a bit rusty! Trust me, it won’t take us long to get back into the swing of things. So racegoers have missed out on 16 ﬁxtures at Warwick this season. Missed the chance to watch 1028 horses start in 118 races. That’s before I mention those lost meetings in April and May last year. It’s been great that the appetite to return has been so obvious with us entertaining a sell-out crowd this afternoon. Around the office, the general consensus is that the best three moments you missed were; . The Ballymore Leamington Novices Hurdle, a dramatic affair won narrowly by Adrimel. 2. French visitor, Paul’s Saga getting turned over by local, star mare, Molly Olly’s Wishes in the St Mary’s Land Mares Hurdles. 3. Allmankind in the Agetur UK Kingmaker Chase. Pure class. Hopefully now the memories of an empty theatre are a thing of the past and the almost private audiences my staff and I have experienced with the stars of the turf will be conﬁned to history. Racegoers are back. Atmosphere is back. SECRET POTION didn’t go with a great deal of promise in a handful of hurdle outings towards the back end of last year (reported to have suffered a breathing problem). However, this former useful Flat performer has since undergone wind surgery and it would come as no surprise to see a much-improved showing for his powerful stable on handicap bow. Shanroe Tic Tec and Blazing Saddles can also ﬁgure.
