Race Description

This is a two miles and two furlongs handicap steeple chase for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 120. Just like the previous race, this only open to novices. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 60 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 170.

PLAY SMARTER ILE DE JERSEY is fancied to make a winning start over fences. Nicky Henderson’s filly should appreciate the step up from 2m and starts chasing on a workable-looking mark. Mordred is very much respected after his comfortable success at Sedgefield, with Mascat also hard to rule out.
