Race Description
This two miles and two furlongs handicap steeple chase has been designed for four-year-olds and upwards which are rated from 0 to 130. In most National Hunt handicaps, there is a minimum weight of 10st so any horse whose official rating would allocate them less than that still has to shoulder that burden. The horses that fall into this category are said to be racing from ‘out of the handicap’ – usually a distinct disadvantage.

PLAY SMARTER
NICKOLSON bettered his hurdles form at the first attempt when second in a novice chase at Warwick on his return and looks on a good mark switched to a handicap. Nietzsche ran no sort of race in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham but he will find this much less competitive and isn’t one to be writing off yet, while Glajou took a step back in the right direction back over hurdles here on return.
