If you would like any information about any of our local trainers running clubs. Please contact the racecourse office whom will point you in the right direction

We are sorry that the road works continue to delay your journey in and out of the course The timing and works are out of our control and with all traffic leaving onto the same main road it creates congestion. We are trying to manage this but until the works are completed management is difficult. We thank you for your patience.

We are here to provide you with a good day out If you have suggestions, complaints, questions or comments, please contact us at the office via email; info@stratfordracecourse.net or telephone 01789 267949.

HORSE WELFARE

“Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider”. Like most sports racing carries risks, however, we work to make sure that no death or injury occurs, which could have been prevented. Here at Stratford Racecourse we are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. At every meeting we have two specially qualified Equine Vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action There is also a British Horseracing Authority Vet in attendance. During the race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend to a horse in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating the injured jockeys.

It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected round the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy Please do not assume the worst.

HOW TO BET WITH A BOOKMAKER

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number) Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet

3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g. £1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

•Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win

•3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2

•5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2

•8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3

•Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3

•Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4

•Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4

RACE SUMMARY:

GIFTED ANGEL translated his fair Flat ability to hurdles at the first time of asking when third over C&D 18 days ago and a repeat of that form might be good enough here. BETTING FORECAST:

5-2 Gentleman Valley (FR), 9-2 Scarpia (IRE), 5-1 Mr Yeats (IRE), 15-2 Hoganville (IRE), 8-1 Shantou Express (IRE), 12-1 Isthebaropen (GB), 14-1 Hunting Percival (GB)

RACE SUMMARY:

GENTLEMAN VALLEY has a career-high mark to overcome but still can’t be opposed on the back of an emphatic Worcester success as he bids to make it four wins in a row The consistent Mr Yeats seems sure to have a say in his attempt to bag a first win of 2023, with game Worcester scorer Scarpia also in the picture in a competitive handicap.
