“Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider”. Like most sports racing carries risks, however, we work to make sure that no death or injury occurs, which could have been prevented. Here at Stratford Racecourse we are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. At every meeting we have two specially qualified Equine Vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action There is also a British Horseracing Authority Vet in attendance. During the race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend to a horse in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating the injured jockeys.
It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected round the horse It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy Please do not assume the worst.
In the event of an emergency all persons on the racecourse will be alerted by the following message over the public address system.
This is an emergency announcement. Due to circumstances beyond our control, racing has been temporarily suspended Would all patrons please evacuate ALL buildings and make your way across the racetrack to the Red post marker in the Centre of the Course. Police and Racecourse Officials will assist and direct you. Please do not go to any Car Park until you are cleared to do so, because you may hamper the movement of emergency vehicles The message will then be repeated
Broken glasses and bottles are dangerous. In the interests of safety and the comfort of others please do not carry drinks on to the steppings of the stand, or the areas adjacent to the parade ring or unsaddling enclosure
We would ask all racegoers to refrain from using flash photography whilst on course.

All horses must parade in the Parade Ring except by permission of the Stewards, but in all cases must pass through the Ring on the way to the Post.
The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone and to remove any person from the Course without assigning a reason for so doing and do not accept responsibility for loss or damage to persons or their property.
Please help us to keep Stratford clean and tidy by using the litter bins in all enclosures.

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number). Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet
3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g. £1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
•Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win
•3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2
•5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2
•8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3
•Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3

•Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4

3-1 Hunting Percival (GB), 10-3 Rostello (FR), 9-2 Steel Wave (IRE), 17-2 Ecossais (FR), 9-1 Barely Famous (IRE), 12-1 Dan’s Chosen (IRE), Conceal (IRE), 50-1 Hitthekettle (IRE)
RACE SUMMARY:
HUNTING PERCIVAL showed very little on chase debut earlier in the year but there was no fluke about his success over hurdles here last week and he’s given another chance over fences in a race which shouldn’t take much winning. Steel Wave has a positive recent C&D record and looks the main danger, with Conceal just about the pick of the rest.
