Here at Stratford Racecourse we are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. At every meeting we have two specially qualified Equine Vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action There is also a British Horseracing Authority Vet in attendance. During the race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend to a horse in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating the injured jockeys.

It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected round the horse It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy Please do not assume the worst.

HOW TO BET WITH A BOOKMAKER

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet, name the horse, (the bookmaker won’t necessarily know it’s number). Listen to the bookmaker repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet

3. Should your horse happen to win, present your betting ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise the racegoer as to his rights

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes. e.g. £1, £5 or £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

•Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win

•3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2

•5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2

•8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3

•Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3

•Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4

•Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4

All bookmakers must display on their boards whether they are betting each way or to win only

2022: NO CORRESPONDING RACE LAST YEAR

BETTING FORECAST:

11-8 Carrigeen Kampala (IRE), 9-2 Harthill (FR), 7-1 Telefenney (GB), 12-1 Ilary de L’Ecu (FR), Indelible Spin (IRE), 20-1 Stargazer Belle (GB), 33-1 Noonie (GB), 40-1 Aviewofthestars (GB), 50-1 Artemis Sky (GB), 66-1 El Capote (GB)

RACE SUMMARY:

Lots of these arrive with something to prove so CARRIGEEN KAMPALA is fancied to make light of an absence and open her account over hurdles with the form of her debut Worcester fifth having worked out well. Newcomer Telefenney appeals on paper and could emerge as the chief threat, especially if the market vibes are positive. while Ilary de L’Ecu is in good hands and could have a say too if building on her debut Lingfield seventh.

PLAY SMARTER

BETTING FORECAST:

2-1 The Questioner (IRE), 7-2 William Ewart (IRE), 8-1 Our Three Sons (IRE), 11-1 Reve de Niamh (GB), 14-1 Dora de Janeiro (FR), 20-1 Loch Garman Aris (IRE), 22-1 Shantou Sunset (GB), Frame Rate (GB), Moscow Spy (IRE), 40-1 Quiet Thunder (IRE), Luckello (GB), 50-1 Tis But A Scratch (GB), Top Drawer (IRE)

RACE SUMMARY:

Steadily progressive from a low base over hurdles, THE QUESTIONER continued the good work initially over fences, earlier this year Undone by mistakes on his latest start in that sphere, he returns to timber with potential to do better still and earns the vote to concede weight all round and come out on top. Easy Bangor scorer William Ewart rates the chief danger, despite his much-inflated mark. Dora de Janeiro and Our Three Sons can also make the frame.

We are remembering Mary Kendrick this afternoon. A much loved and missed Mother and Grandmother who sadly passed away last year.

Mary loved horses and worked in a racing stable after leaving school. She continued to follow racing and was a committee member of the Cheltenham and Three Counties raceclub.

She was also a successful smallscale breeder and exhibitor of the ‘Bournsideway’ Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Mary judged the breed at championship show level.

2022: MICKYH (IRE) 6 10 0 Jamie Moore 9-2 (Adam West) 9 ran

BETTING FORECAST:

9-2 Scherbobalob (GB), 11-2 Glory Bridge (IRE), 10-1 Embolden (IRE), 11-1 Iceman Dennis (FR), Hokelami (FR), 12-1 Dusky Days (IRE), 14-1 They Call Me Pete (GB), Henry Box Brown (IRE), Claras Soldier (IRE), Scudamore (FR), 18-1 Rollo’s Kingdom (GB), 25-1 Governor Green (IRE), 40-1 Happy Sanchez (IRE), 66-1 Gambie Tiep (FR)

RACE SUMMARY:

This looks trappy but SCHERBOBALOB got the job done in pretty convincing fashion on just his second start in handicaps at Ludlow 3 weeks ago and gets the narrow vote to come out on top again from a 5lb higher mark. Glory Bridge has the ability to play a part if putting it all together and is feared, along with his stablemate Iceman Dennis. Hokelami isn’t out of things either

1-2-3:

1.SCHERBOBALOB 2.GLORY BRIDGE (IRE) 3.ICEMAN DENNIS (FR)

H O R S E WE LF AR E

“Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider”. Like most sports racing carries risks, however, we work to make sure that no death or injury occurs, which could have been prevented.

Here at Stratford Racecourse we are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care At every meeting we have two specially qualified Equine Vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action There is also a British

Horseracing Authority Vet in attendance

During the race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend to a horse in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for treating the injured jockeys.

It is standard policy that in the event of a horse requiring veterinary treatment whilst on site, screens will be erected round the horse. It is designed to afford the vet and the patient some privacy. Please do not assume the worst.
