C = Has won at this course
D = Has won over this distance
CD = Has won over this distance at this course
BF = Was a beaten favourite

How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race
5. JOCKEYS

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

Martin Densham was a most popular fixture at Sandown Park for more than 30 years. His father, Pat, founded the family Bookmakers firm of SUNDERLANDS in the mid-1940s Martin, for over 30 years, had been a leading member of the Charity Guild of the Nineteen Lubricators. The winning connections of the Martin Densham & Peter Deal Memorial race will receive a perpetual trophy commissioned by the Guild of a solid silver sculpture of a Sunderland Flying Boat, an aircraft flown by Pat Densham during the Second World War, and the inspiration for the business name of Sunderlands Bookmakers.
Peter was a successful racehorse owner with many winners over his nearly 50 years of ownership, to include Make a Stand winning the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and Blowing Wind the Imperial Cup here at Sandown. Peter was on the Board of URL and then became Chairman of the Raceday Committee at Sandown - a racetrack he loved. Peter was a member of The Guild of the Nineteen Lubricators, along with Martin Densham, whose memory we also celebrate today.
Two great and good men taken from us too soon but who we will always remember with love and the shared laughter.

Lots of these offer potential but the vote goes to ORION’S BELT who holds the edge on the form of her facile Newmarket victory and can take this step up in class in her stride. Ollie Sangster has captured this the past twice and his improving Hayynah rates a big threat, while Nandita, Electoral College and Hope Queen all need factoring in too.

PLAY SMARTER
Plenty remain open to improvement including PENDRAGON who looked far from the finished article when landing a hat-trick overC&D earlierthis month.Thistypical SirMark Prescott improvercan defy the handicapper and a rise in class to complete the 4-timer He’s likely to be up with the pace alongside Tarriance who has a fine pedigree and shapes as though he’ll be suited by the step up in trip on handicap debut, while it’s unlikely we’ve seen the best of eitherTremorgio or Boatswain.

The fact that BEACH POINT is to be turned out again just 15 days on from his low-key display at Kempton suggests that all is well and William Knight’s charge, who was knocking on the door prior to that, is taken to get his head in front here with Oisin Murphy booked. Man of Desert and Sweet Reward appeal as the ones most likely to serve it up to Beach Point.
