Aquick wayto see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.
Look out for Letters:
C = Has won at this course
D = Has won over this distance
CD = Has won over this distance at this course
BF = Was a beaten favourite

Bold form
figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name
9. Days since the horse last run
10. Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs)
12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam)
13. Horse’s owner
14. Horse’s breeder
15. Birthplace of horse
16. Draw – position of the horse in the starting stalls
17. Sponsor (if applicable)
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

The bettingwill likelyprove useful in assessingthe chances ofa fewhere but REDORANGE boasted a progressive profile at 2 yrs, signing offwith a readyvictory on nursery debut at Yarmouth (6f) back in the autumn. Still unexposed, he gets the nod with further progress on the cards. Ardennes has often shaped like a return to the minimum trip would suit and better can be expected from him. Queen All Star and Zayer are others to consider

Running for the first time since Gelding No 3, 4. Running for the first time since Wind Surgery No 4. Probable S.P’s: 3-1 Dancing Gemini (IRE), 4-1 Tamfana (GER), Lead Artist (GB), 5-1 Alcantor (FR), 11-2 Haatem (IRE), 33-1 Ice Max (GB), 40-1 Cash (IRE), Cicero’s Gift (GB)
An intriguing renewal ofthe bet365 Mile with far more strength in depth than has been the case in recent seasons. Preference is for LEAD ARTIST, who is likely to be a force at the highest level this season and represents the in-form Gosden team. His main threat may come from Dancing Gemini, who is hoping to emulate Charyn having bolted up on reappearance at Doncaster last month, while sole fillyTamfana can edge out French-raiderAlcantor for minor honours.
The bet365 Classic Trial has, over the years, proven to be a happy hunting ground for some of the shining lights in Flat racing. The one mile and twofurlong race for three-year-olds is a Group 3 contest that provides the perfect stepping stone for major races later in the season, including the Derby at neighbouring Epsom Downs in June.
Some notable names from the races recent history include WESTERN HYMN, MIDTERM, CUNCO, ALENQUER and WESTOVER. MIDTERM was a regally bred son of Galileo and Midday, both outstanding Group 1 winners in their own right, and looked a very promising prospect when winning the race in 2016.
Another notable name you may recognise, ADAYAR, who finished half a length behind ALENQUER in this race before going on to win the 2021 Derby just 6 weeks later.
CUNCO was another notable winner due to his breeding. He was Frankel’s first ever winner as a Sire and carried a huge amount of expectation into his career His most notable win was the bet365 Classic Trial itself He would only go on to race once more in the UK before retiring to stud himself.
The most successful winner came in 2022 in the form of WESTOVER. Trained by Ralph Beckett and ridden by Rob Hornby, the son of Frankel had a very good two-year-old career before coming to Sandown Park as a three-yearold in 2022. After winning the bet365 Classic Trial by a small margin, he went on to run a huge race in the Derby at Epsom, finishing third to Desert Crown before going even better in the Irish equivalent and bagging a Classic. His return as a four-year-old last year also saw him finish second in the Dubai Sheema Classic, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, but a trip to Saint Cloud proved fruitful with a victory in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
Godolphin owned ARABIAN CROWN was an impressive winner of the 2024 renewal, setting a blistering pace to make all and finish 3 ¼ lengths ahead of nearest rival MACDUFF, giving trainer Charlie Appleby his first success in the race
