Aquick wayto see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.
Look out for Letters:
C = Has won at this course
D = Has won over this distance
CD = Has won over this distance at this course
BF = Was a beaten favourite
- = New racing season
/ = Missed racing season
P = Was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race
F = Horse fell
U = Rider unseated
R = Horse refused to race
CO = The horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse
B = Horse was brought down
S = Horse slipped
r = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race
d = Disqualified
Bold form
17. Sponsor (if applicable) 1. FORM
figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse.
3. Timeform view and TFR rating
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race.
Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day.
6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey
7. Saddlecloth number
8. Horse’s name
9. Days since the horse last run
10. Horse’s age
11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs)
12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire) and mother (dam)
13. Horse’s owner
14. Horse’s breeder
15. Birthplace of horse
16. Draw – position of the horse in the starting stalls
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

HYPNOTISED is bred to improve with age and over longer trips but he was impressive over 5f at Southwell in the autumn and with that race working out well, this mark looks well within range on reappearance. Atticum may also end up being a useful 3-y-o for a stable well versed with similar types, while Calico Blue also needs considering.

PLAY SMARTER
This should be a really informative 3-y-o handicap with Dante entrant ORGANISE perhaps the answer as he’ll surely end up better than a handicapper as he gains further experience. Nobody Knows has passed both tests so far, so his ceiling has yet to be ascertained, while Laureate Crown looked good at Wolverhampton last month.

Since 2000 we’ve invested £63m into research, veterinary science, and equine health, which benefits horses worldwide.

Probable S.P’s: 2-1 Almeric (GB), 3-1 Devil’s Advocate (GB), Saddadd (IRE), 5-1 King of Cities (IRE), 33-1 Muddy Mooy (IRE)
ALMERIC found the step up to Group 1 company at Ascot too big an ask last autumn but had looked an excellent prospect prior to that and is taken to resume winning ways on his seasonal return here. Saddadd also appeals as an improver in 2026 and could emerge as the main danger to Andrew Balding’s 4-y-o, although both King Of Cities and Devil’s Advocate can’t be discounted either in a fascinating renewal of the Gordon Richards.

PLAY SMARTER
A typically small field doesn’t make this any less intriguing, with high-class Irish 2000 Guineas winner FIELD OF GOLD the one to beat on first start as a 4-y-o. Never So Brave was much improved last season, landing his breakthrough Group 1 success over 7f, and he could be better equipped than most if the pace is steady Zeus Olympios concedes weight to the aforementioned pair but could progress again in his bid to make it 5-5.

A red-hot fillies’ novice chock-full with potential. Preference is for RIBBON OF SEA, who was still very rough around the edges when scoring on return at Wolverhampton last month and Charlie Appleby’s filly looks sure to progress again.
