BETTING EXPLAINED
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

It’s not just about the on-track action today – there is plenty going on in the Surrey Hall to keep you entertained!
TODAY’S ENTERTAINMENT

The ever-popular ‘Darts with the Stars’ returns to Sandown Park with world class darts players Bobby George and Kevin Painter!
Challenge yourself against two of the greats in a live tournament for the chance to win prizes and grab a selfie!

PLUS there will also be a live rugby simulator offering the chance to practice those conversions.
Be sure to stick around once racing concludes, the entire England versus Ireland Six Nations Game will be shown live from Twickenham on screens around the racecourse!

SILENT AUCTION

Sandown Park Racecourse and The Jockey Club are delighted to welcome Alzheimer’s Society to Betfair Imperial Cup Day as part of the Sport United Against Dementia campaign for a thrilling day of Rugby Six Nations and horseracing.
Dedicated to raising awareness and funds, a team of volunteers will be available on the day, providing racegoers with valuable information about dementia, a condition affecting one in three people during our lifetime. The campaign is working across multiple sports to raise vital awareness of the condition, encouraging fans to seek an early diagnosis so they’re able to unlock crucial care and support.
In a remarkable display of solidarity, jockeys will be wearing coloured breeches for the first race of the day. This rare departure from tradition serves as a beacon for the Sports United Against Dementia Campaign!
To further contribute to Alzheimer’s Society’s vital support services, we are delighted to be hosting a Silent Auction today available to all racegoers with proceeds going to Alzheimer’s Society. Head to the Main Foyer to visit the Good2Auction stand or alternatively, scan the QR code below to see all the fantastic lots on offer.

PLAY SMARTER
The most appealing ofthese is KARTOONAND CO,who is likelyto get a strong paceto aim at forthe first time here (has made the running on each of his three starts to date, albeit seemingly more out of necessity rather than by design) and this stiff track could also be conducive to an improved display, not that there’s much wrong with his form as things stand.ThroughTheAges is clearly going the right way and is respected with Harry Cobden booked, while Valadon also enters calculations.

PLAY SMARTER
Another typically competitive renewal on paper and it’s SANS BRUIT who gets the tentative nod having shaped as if better for the run on return/yard debut at Doncaster 6 weeks ago His usual hood is reapplied, and he can give Paul Nicholls a second successivevictory in this at the expense of Making Headway, who doubled his tally at Newbury 4 weeks ago and looks a fascinating contender now handicapping. Go Dante, Jipcot and Bad are just another handful of others worth considering.

JUST CALL ME LUCY was highly impressive at Carlisle 83 days ago and sets the standard on that form, so she’s preferred to Rules-debutante Honky Tonk Highway, who looked a good prospect when winning a point. Sunset Marquesa has already proved she can compete at this level, so she also warrants respect.

A few with chances but ROSE OF ARCADIA looks the way to go on the back of her C&D second last time out with that form having been very well advertised since. Bangers And Cash could emerge as the chiefthreat, especially if a recent wind op ekes out more improvement. Switch Hitter and Ballygrifincottage make up the shortlist.

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards
In addition Sandown Park Racecourse employs three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.
