Welcome to Sandown Park for a spectacular summer afternoon of Flat racing followed by a live DJ set from Capital FMs Sonny Jay!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors Virgin Bet for their generous sponsorship across today’s seven race card We have two feature races today with the Group 3 Solario Stakes and Atalanta Stakes, both renowned for showcasing top quality horses. This is the opportunity to witness future stars, as demonstrated by horses such as Masar, Too Darn Hot and Kingman in the Solario Stakes. The latter is the Sire of one of today’s most exciting prospects
STARLORE who looks to emulate Kingman in also winning the Virgin Bet Solario Stakes.
Another Solario Stakes highlight has to be seeing Queen Elizabeth II winning the race in 2021 with Reach For The Moon.
Once racing has finished you will need to have your dancing shoes ready as Capital FM’s Sonny Jay will be making a return to Sandown Park and will be performing a live DJ set outside the Parade Ring, with the set scheduled to start at about 5.30pm He will be ensuring that your Summer Celebration continues with timeless club hits and lively party anthems.
Our Flat racing season is drawing to a close now, but we do have two final meetings in September on Friday 15 September and Wednesday 20 September. Thank you for joining us throughout this unforgettable summer, marked by exhilarating races, captivating tunes, and an incredible ambiance Let Sandown Park always be your first choice for exciting sports entertainment and engaging social experiences.
I hope that you all have a fantastic time at Sandown Park today and wish the horses and their connections the very best of luck.

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so
‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.
1.50pm- Amber Island looks like a true 7 furlong specialist. Her latest win at Leicester over this trip showed us there may be more to come from the mare, now having had cheekpieces applied. James Doyle will take the ride and she should be in the reckoning now running off a revised mark of 88. Tough Enough is a course and distance winner and the step up in trip to 7 furlongs from 6 furlongs looked to be the making of him last time out here. A chance is taken that Tough Enough can reproduce a similar run to his last run here at Sandown on better ground this time around for James Tate and jockey Rossa Ryan. Ernie’s Valentine has a revised mark of 81 with Oisin Murphy taking the ride. He has a bit to find against Amber Island based on their previous meeting at Leicester but is better suited at the weights this time around and makes an interesting proposition here
2.25pm- Coppice won the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot this year. The John Gosden trained filly was then put into the deep end facing the likes of Nashwa and Via Sistina in the Falmouth Stakes and ran into one or two fillies too good for her on the day but she did run a nice race all the same that day. Today’s drop in grade to Group 3 company should see her run well. She needs good/firm ground so connections will be hoping for any rain to stay away. Midnight Mile finished 3rd in the Lancaster Stakes at Haydock. She should have every chance in this race. The step back to 1 mile should not be an issue for the No Nay Never filly.
3.00pm- Eagle’s Way has soared up the weights for Sir Mark Prescott in the last 12 months after winning four races on the bounce. The handicapper may have now caught up with him but he still remains a danger off a mark of 99 and will be suited by the good ground. Gaaesee looks an interesting runner here for William Haggas now off a revised mark of 99. He disappointed in last year’s Ebor at York but can run a good race over a shorter trip and will be suited to good/firm ground.
3.35pm- Starlore won narrowly here at Sandown Park in July in a Novice Stakes race. It would be reasonable to think that he would come on for that run. The form of that race has since been franked with the 3rd in that race, Arabian Crown winning in his next two starts including a listed race at Salisbury. Starlore looks an exciting prospect as does the Godolphin colt Aablan who, by Dubawi, won his Newmarket maiden race first time of asking. Mortlake was a runaway winner last time out at Leicester for Ralph Beckett. The Churchill colt was disappointing on his first run on soft ground at Salisbury but ran green that day and looked a very different horse on his next run with plenty of early speed and showing an impressive turn of foot near the finish.
4.10pm- Skywoman looks an interesting newcomer for William Haggas and is worth a market check. Inherit looks a nicely bred filly by Kingman, out of Queen’s Trust. Classical Song and Beautiful Love should both come on for their runs in what looks like a decent maiden race where the market may be the best guide for clues.
4.45pm- Both Inner City and Paladin disappointed in their runs last time out. It is possible that one or both could bounce back to form on better ground but there are a few interesting runners in this nursery to take them on with including Spanish Blaze and Savvy Kingdom. Eminny is the most experienced runner in this field and should be capable of running a big race under Rossa Ryan. A step back up to 7 furlongs should be no problem and he has won previously on good to firm ground and may have fewer questions to answer than Inner City and Paladin.
5.30pm- Spring Bloom was just beaten by a head at Sandown Park 13 days ago and a reproduction of that run should see the top weight gelding go close here today. Safari Dream is a course and distance winner and should be suited by better ground conditions and a drop back in class. Swift Asset is capable of a big run for Richard Hannon and Ryan Moore but it is a tough ask off a mark of 84. Preference here would be for Safari Dream.

ANDALEEP: Following its run on 12/8/2023 it was reported that the horse ran flat.
BALTIC VOYAGE: Following its run on 3/8/2023 it was reported that the horse ran in snatches.
Probable S.P’s: 11-2 Gaassee (IRE), 7-1 Lord Protector (GER), 8-1 Eagle’s Way (GB), 9-1 Educator (GB), 11-1 Groundbreaker (GER), 12-1 Stay Well (GB), 14-1 Dual Identity (IRE), 16-1 Andaleep (IRE), Baltic Voyage (GB), 20-1 Certain Lad (GB), Skysail (GB), 22-1 Great Max (IRE), Dashing Roger (GB), 40-1 Kitsune Power (IRE)
A chance is taken on DUAL IDENTITY who was runner-up in this race off a similar mark last year and is probably in better form than his finishing positions at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood might suggest. Lord Protector has 2 wins and a close second to show for his 3 previous outings over C&D so he’s an obvious threat for in-form Ralph Beckett. Gaassee and Eagle’s Way, assuming stall 14 isn’t too much of an inconvenience, are others to consider

MORTLAKE was impressive at Leicester last time and can take the step up to pattern level in his stride for a yard which can do little wrong at present. Starlore and Aablan both looked nice prospects for top stables when making winning debuts, the former over this C&D, and they could be the pair to give the selection most to think about.

Probable S.P’s: 6-1 Razzam (IRE), 7-1 Swift Asset (IRE), 15-2 Mojomaker (IRE), 17-2 Clipsham La Habana (GB), 9-1 Beyond Equal (GB), 10-1 Spring Bloom (GB), Simple Man (IRE), 14-1 Safari Dream (IRE), Buccabay (IRE), 22-1 Just Glamorous (IRE), 25-1 Rathbone (GB), 40-1 Brave Nation (IRE), Twilight Madness (GB)
Plenty to consider but SPRING BLOOM went close in a class 3 over C&D 2 weeks ago so could be the answer back down in grade. Mojomaker and Beyond Equal head the dangers.
