B M. Conaghan Tote S TIMEFORM VIEW Sparingly campaigned for a horse of his age and proved that all of his ability remains intact when landing a Grade 3 handicap at Aintree’s Grand National meeting in April. More will be needed off this 8lb higher mark but he evidently goes well fresh and is certainly not without hope. TFRHHHII BHA141 2 FRERO BANBOU (FR) (49) 1230-24 CD

Below par over the same C&D next time but now 2lb lower and has performed with great credit on each of his 2 previous visits to Sandown. TFRHHHII BHA140 3 DREAMS OF HOME (IRE) (34) 22531-1 D

B Parkville Stud Proactive Personnel Limited S TIMEFORM VIEW Ended last season on a winning note at Perth and picked up where he left off by landing a 17f Kelso handicap on return in December. 3lb rise by no means prohibitive but will need to prove better than ever if he’s to follow up in this company. B Mrs P. Sly Pam Sly Racing S TIMEFORM VIEW Ended last season with back-to-back 2m wins and, having shaped fairly well on return at Wetherby, he got back on the scoresheet at Doncaster last month, displaying good battling qualities in the process. Rider’s claim negates the 3lb rise he incurred for that and should make his presence felt. TFRHHHII BHA133 5 GREY DIAMOND (FR) (57) 15/240-3 CD 9 11-6

B Philippe Ouvry & Ecurie Des Vives Terres TIMEFORM VIEW Dual winner as a novice, including over this C&D, and showed plenty in a light campaign last season. Resumed with a solid effort at Cheltenham (form subsequently boosted by both the winner and the second) and likely to play a big part here with that run under his belt. B J. J. Howlett Ian Macleod & Co Ltd S TIMEFORM VIEW Fairly useful novice hurdler last season and winner of both completed starts over fences this season, latterly landing a C&D handicap in good style. Now finds himself 9lb higher in a deeper race but it’s likely that there is better to come from this 6-y-o. TFRHHHHI BHA128 7 GLADIATEUR ALLEN (FR) (17) FUP-404 7 10-10

Probable S.P’s: 11-4 Grey Diamond (FR), 3-1 Corrigeen Rock (IRE), 9-2 Frero Banbou (FR), 7-1 The Last Day (IRE), 17-2 Xcitations (GB), 12-1 Dreams of Home (IRE), 28-1 Gladiateur Allen (FR)
The form of the Cheltenham handicap in which GREY DIAMOND was a creditable third on his reappearance in November has since received healthy boosts by the pair that beat him, and he is appealing back at the scene of his sole previous success over fences. Frero Banbou is capable of a very bold show off this mark and both The Last Day and Xcitations are not without a chance. However, the novice Corrigeen Rock was pretty impressive over C&D last month and he is feared most.
