Toby Lawes, Beare Green T B Mme Henri Devin Lawmens Limited S TIMEFORM VIEW Enhanced his fine strike rate over fences with ready success at Stratford (22.5f) in March. Struggled at Haydock a month later and whilst much better than bare result when fifth on return at Fakenham (3m) in October, it’s likely he’ll face plenty of competition on the front end here. Olly Murphy, Wilmcote T B M. and Mrs Watson Cedar Invest Limited S TIMEFORM VIEW Consistent hurdler who justified good support on the back of a break/wind op over shorter here 4 weeks ago, jumping on 3 out and ridden out. PLAY SMARTER

A high-class chaser in his pomp, RIDERS ONTHE STORM capitalised on his much-reduced mark under an excellent ride to land the Old Roan Chase (strong form) on return. Consistency hasn’t always been his strong suit but a 2lb higher mark certainly doesn’t look prohibitive if arriving in the same groove and he could be worth siding with to enhance his already sound C&D record. Improving 7-y-o Cooper’s Cross, Brave Seasca and Irish-raider Handsworth head up the dangers. TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.RIDERS ONTHE STORM (IRE) 2.COOPER’S CROSS (IRE) 3.BRAVE SEASCA (FR)
