We have seven cracking races this afternoon, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors; Coral, Irish European Breeders Fund, Crown Group, Davies Group and Vintage Acquisitions, for their generous and ongoing support. There are three Listed races on today’s card; the Coral Dragon Stakes, the Coral Marathon and the Davies Insurance Services Gala Stakes. The Coral Dragon Stakes is run on the straight course here at Sandown Park, a course only used for races run over five furlongs. Off the track, there is something for everyone to enjoy, including our Style Awards which celebrate the very best dressed people on course. If you would like to enter, please head down to the Style Pod between 12.00pm and 3.00pm where you can have your picture taken. We have some fantastic prizes on offer including House of Cavani vouchers, Coast vouchers, a VIP experience at Sandown Park plus champagne and flowers. Make sure to join us in the Winner’s Enclosure at 1.00pm to listen to our panel of inspirational ladies from the equestrian world. Top journalist Maddy Playle will be joined by Olympic Gold Medallist Laura Collett and leading coach Mia Palles-Clark to talk about some of their horses, experiences and achievements. We are delighted to be joined by Denise Van Outen following racing to play a live DJ set. This will start shortly after racing so head down to the Parade Ring to finish off your evening! Looking ahead, we have one of the highlights of our season tomorrow, Coral-Eclipse Day featuring the Group One Coral-Eclipse, one of the best races in the world. Inspirational Ladies of Equestrianism 1pm in The Winners Enclosure Join journalist Maddy Playleas she asks equestrian superstars Laura Collett MBE and Mia Palles-Clark about their horses, experiences and achievements.

Laura Collett MBE

Laura started her career by winning the supreme pony title at Horse of the Year Show in 2003 when she was just 13 years old. Now in her 17th year as a professional event rider, she has several European and World Eventing titles to her name. She is also nothing short of a miracle. In 2013, Laura was lucky to survive a terrible fall which left her in a coma for two weeks. She suffered a punctured lung, lacerated liver, a fractured shoulder and two broken ribs. She was discharged from hospital after two weeks and was back in the saddle the same day she came home. In 2021 Laura and London 52 represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. She won gold in the team event with Oliver Townend and Tom McEwen. Laura was awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to equestrianism.

Mia Palles-Clark Mia Palles-Clark is a British showjumping coach developer, England Home Pony Team Chef d'Equipe , British Army team coach , British showjumping academy lead coach for Suffolk and part of the British Showjumping members council to name a few titles. Mia was awarded British Showjumping UKCC coach of the year in 2017. Mia coaches a range of students from competition entry level, through participation and top performance level riders of all ages but specialises in youth athletes.

The main threat is likely to be posed by Galiac, who raised his game when leading close home at Newmarket and will get plenty of assistance from the saddle. Autumn Festival was below par last time, but he’ll be dangerous if allowed too much rope back down in trip here and is third choice ahead of Lethal Nymph.
