Welcome to Whitsbury Manor Stud Bibury Cup Day.
We are very grateful to our principle sponsor today, as well as the generous support of Juddmonte, the European Breeders’ Fund, Trethowans and Mildren Constrruction.
At our most recent Father’s Day race meeting we welcomed a healthy sized crowd of just under 6,000. It is five years since the Sarum Enclosure over in the middle of the racecourse, had been so busy, which was great to see.
There were some good Salisbury links to Royal Ascot last week Bluestocking and Remarquee, which had both won in September, were third in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes and second in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes, respectively. Relief Rally and Juniper Berries, which were first and second in a fillies race in mid-May, were second and fourth in the 26-runner Group 2, Queen Mary Stakes. Relief Rally came agonisingly close to winning it, beaten just a nose. The Hardwick Stakes, a Group 2, was won by the hugely popular Pyledriver. It is three years since his winning racecourse debut at Salisbury in July 2019, at odds of 50-1. Finally, four of last month’s Cathedral Stakes runners lined up in Saturday’s Group 1, Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, including the 80-1 winner, Khaadem, which had finished third in our Listed race four weeks beforehand. The directors and staff wish you a successful and enjoyable afternoon, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Best Wishes
Jeremy Martin Executive Director & Clerk of the Course Relief Rally and Juniper Berries pictured at Salisbury in May, were second and fourth in last week’s 26 runner Queen Mary Stakes11 Jockey’s Name. If there is a number next to the name, this indicates that the jockey can claim that amount in weight (lbs) off the stated riding weight.

17 A guide to the horse’s recent form
STAR RATING EXPLAINED
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: Selected to win the race
Good chance of being placed.
By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating
Watcha Matey sets the standard of those to have raced after stepping forward from his introduction to fill the runner-up spot at Haydock He may put that experience to good use against some interesting newcomers, but JUBILEE WALK cost 185,000 euros at the Goffs Orby sale and James Ferguson's colt, who is related to several winners, gets the vote to make a winning debut Aragon Castle and Dancing Gemini are others worth noting.
WIN: JUBILEE WALK
RACE TWO
DANGER: WATCHA MATEY
GrandfatherTomcompletedaquickfirehat-trickatLeicester,buthehashadthebenefitofhisjockeys'claimson hislastcoupleofstartsandfacesastiffertask Withthatinmind, thevotegoestoREDREDROBIN,whoisanother arriving in fine fettle, making it three wins from her last four starts over 6f here, and Malcolm Saunders' mare is unlikely to have any issue dropping back in trip Saaheq and Just Glamorous appeal most of the remainder
WIN: REDREDROBIN
RACE THREE
DANGER: GRANDFATHER TOM
Ralph Beckett has already sent out two juvenile winners here this season and SLEVEN may well add to that tally A 60,000gns purchase at the Craven Breeze-Up sale, the son of Acclamation is expected to know his job and could potentially get the better of rivals that have already shown promise, including Equity Law, who finished runner-up over C&D on debut Rednblue Sovereign and Luas complete the shortlist.
WIN: SLEVEN
DANGER: EQUITY LAW
SKYSAIL appeals as just the type to continue improving after a comfortable success on his return at Goodwood last month. The son of Tasleet relished the step up to a mile on that occasion and he should have too much for surprise Southwell winner Swift Lioness and Helm Rock, who has been knocking on the door of late with some solid efforts in defeat
WIN: SKYSAIL
DANGER: SWIFT LIONESS
RAJASTHAN ran two highly creditable races as a two-year-old behind some classy individuals and he should be primed to go on his return. The step up in trip is a major plus and the well-bred son of Dubawi gets the vote ahead of Spectacular Style, who ran a race full of promise when second to a stable companion of the selection's on debut at Redcar Sgian Dubh is one with experience of the track and could benefit from the drop in distance.
WIN: RAJASTHAN
DANGER: SPECTACULAR STYLE
Krona has shown significant improvement since going handicapping, bolting up at Kempton and Southwell. She will need to transfer that form to the turf, though, so she is passed over in favour of NADER KING, who could improve for this step up in trip after he was beaten into third behind a subsequent Royal Ascot winner over 1m2f at Newbury. Maasai Mara takes a step down in grade following a good fourth at the Derby meeting and has to be respected.
WIN: NADER KING
DANGER: KRONA
PERFECT GENTLEMAN put a Kempton disappointment behind him when runner-up at Yarmouth and he only has to compete off a 1lb higher rating. He is also aided by the services of Harry Davies, who claims 3lb, so he might be tough to beat Racing Demon stuck his neck out to triumph at Chepstow and he can go well once more off 3lb higher, while Commission's handicap debut on his Goodwood comeback was ordinary but he can't be written off just yet.
WIN: PERFECT GENTLEMAN
DANGER: RACING DEMON

INSPIRE is a medium sized, national charity which raises funds for a scientific programme to ‘research independence, quality of life and dignity after spinal cord injury’ (SCI). Such injuries are life changing, often permanent and affect approximately 50,000 people in the UK, with three new cases every day. Unlike other larger research charities, we receive no NHS or Government funding support, so are committed to generating all necessary funds.
Please come and support our charity by making a donation and wearing a distinctive INSPIRE Foundation rosette. Or why not buy a raffle ticket and the chance to win a beautiful ‘Nobility’ statue by renowned sculptress Harriet Glen.
You will find our information stand outside the Wessex Bar and our buckets at the exits to Salisbury Racecourse.

Betting Forecast: 13-8 Equity Law (GB), 11-2 Rednblue Sovereign (IRE), 9-1 Sleven (IRE), 11-1 Royal Blaze (GB), 14-1 States (GB), Daymer Bay (IRE), 16-1 Luas (IRE), The Ferret (GB), 20-1 Never Dream (IRE), 28-1 Key To Cotai (IRE)
Race Summary: Quite a valuable prize for a novice and it can go the way of EQUITY LAW who shaped well on his C&D debut a fortnight ago. Rednblue Sovereign took another step forward when runner-up over 7f at Sandown last time and can provide the chief threat unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Ralph Beckett newcomer Sleven.

@RacingTogether
Viv, known as ‘Scam’ by all his friends, recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Despite his inappropriate nickname, he is one of the most honest and genuine people you could meet.
Scam has lived all his life in nearby Coombe Bissett, and since his retirement, has regularly enjoyed an afternoon at the races. He would be the first to admit that he is no expert on the form book or paddock inspection, but Scam does enjoy a flutter and often backs horses trained by Richard Hannon or Ralph Beckett. His visits to the track are as much about meeting up with old and new friends. In his early days, Scam enjoyed the odd refreshment with Richard Hannon Snr, and was once advised by the great man to make an investment on Mon Fils (which had previously won at Salisbury) for the 2000 Guineas in 1973. The horse won at 50-1. Scam was also on the mark when the Hannon trained Anna Nerium won the Dick Poole Stakes in 2017 at odds of 40-1. Scam is celebrating his landmark birthday with friends today, and we hope that he manages to find a winner or two.
