WELCOME TO SALISBURY RACECOURSE

Welcome to Salisbury Racecourse for the first of our three June race meetings. We start today with two races for 2 year olds remembering the 44 winners that Queen Elizabeth II had at Salisbury during her reign. The first of her winners was the Ian Balding trained Spanish Invader, back in June 1967, and it is known that she attended Salisbury Racecourse on that occasion. We are delighted that the Monarch’s representative, The Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Sarah Troughton; as well as Dame Mary Morrison, the long serving lady-inwaiting to Queen Elizabeth II, are both with us at Salisbury today.

At our last race meeting on Saturday 27th May, our featured Cathedral Stakes was a very good highlight to the evening racing. The official ratings of the participating horses meant it was more like a race of ‘Group’ standard, and Royal Ascot will more than likely be next on the agenda for most, if not all of them.

We have our next races on Sunday and then again on Wednesday 28th June for Whitsbury Manor Stud Bibury Cup Day.

Thank you for coming to Salisbury this afternoon. The directors and staff appreciate your support, and we look forward to welcoming you back to Salisbury Racecourse again soon.

Best Wishes

Jeremy Martin Executive Director & Clerk of the Course
