WELCOME TO SALISBURY RACECOURSE
Welcome to our August evening race meeting which features the Listed Irish EBF sponsored Stonehenge Stakes, won last year by the Godolphin owned Albahr Salisbury had its annual two-day race meeting on Wednesday and Thursday of last week, with Hollie Doyle winning the big race each day, on Rousay and then Tempus It is five years since Hollie rode her first ever Listed winner on Billesdon Bess, in the Upavon Stakes (Wednesday’s main race), so it was great to see her win the same race, in the same colours, for owners Pall Mall Partners.
After the racing has finished this evening there will be music by brilliant local band The Deloreons, until 9.30pm, and then an hour of popular dance hits from the decades until 10.30pm.

STAR RATING EXPLAINED
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: Selected to win the race Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATING
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating (GB) (67) 3 8-10 (4) Breeding B f Duke of Marmalade (IRE) Guantanamera (IRE) Jockey Robert Havlin Owner Mr A. TODAY’S TIPS
The hat-trick seeking Liangel Hope made a pleasing start for his new stable when scoring by a short head over 7f A 3lb rise makes life tougher up in trip, so preference is for STUBBLE FIELD Simon Pearce's filly recorded a promising third at Newmarket last month and the application of cheekpieces could see her get closer to the target The class-dropping Nine Dragons is another to note
A step up in grade looks set to suit the Charlie Appleby-trained FLYING HONOURS, who shed his maiden tag in emphatic style over 7f at Sandown last month when staying on to win by nine and a half lengths The nature of that win suggests there is more in the locker, while Stormbuster cannot be ignored given the stable he represents He seems the biggest danger to the selection, while Emily's Eclipse completes the shortlist
WIN: SLY MADAM DANGER: LUNA MAGIC RACE TWO GoSenatorGomaydoalotbetterdroppedbacktothistripafterbeingswampedlateonatNewmarket last month and,if connections adopt similartactics here,he may takesome catching. He may prove the biggest rival to the once-raced HELLO DEIRA, a head second over C&D last month and open to any amount of improvement Heroism is a lively newcomer who is also worthy of consideration.
WIN: NOVA LEGEND DANGER: WILDERNESS
WIN: STUBBLE FIELD DANGER: LIANGEL HOPE
RACE ONE SLY MADAM is hard to oppose despite having to carry a 5lb penalty for her recent C&D success, when she strolled clear by five lengths Jockey Miss Brodie Hampson won this last year and will give Luna Magic a good ride as she looks to follow up, while Hurricane Helen could also go close back on this faster ground.
WIN: HELLO DEIRA DANGER: GO SENATOR GO RACE THREE POLLY POTT is looking for her hat-trick after wins at Bath and Nottingham, the latest when stepped up to a mile where she travelled well before being produced to win going away Another 2lb may not stop her here, and she may pounce late to get the better of front-runner Lady Lavina, who carries a 6lb penalty for her Kempton success Hurtle steps up in trip in a first-time tongue-tie and may prove best of the rest
WIN: POLLY POTT DANGER: LADY LAVINA RACE FOUR
RACE SIX NOVA LEGEND could prove tough to beat if anywhere near his best. James Ferguson's charge seemed to benefit from the application of blinkers on his latest outing, when staying on well to win by four and three quarter lengths at Ffos Las He was eased down at the finish on that occasion and is a serious contender once more. Wilderness heads the list of dangers from Masterdream on his return to the Flat
WIN: FLYING HONOURS DANGER: STORMBUSTER RACE FIVE
