The Matt Hampson Foundation inspires and supports young people seriously injured through sporting activity using the unique facilities of its Get Busy Living Centre.
The Centre was opened in Leicestershire during 2018 as the brainchild of founder and former Leicester Tigers rugby player Matt Hampson who experienced a life-changing injury in 2005 during an England Under-21 training session which left him paralysed from the neck down, aged just 20
Coming to terms with his injuries, Matt chose to focus on what he could do rather than what he could not and to ‘get busy living’ which is the philosophy behind everything the Foundation does.
We help people to get busy living after lifechanging injury –helping them back into work, education or sport, or supporting their adjustment to their new life.
By becoming part of the community, beneficiaries can draw on the experience and knowledge of others who have been on the same journey. They develop the tools and skills to move on in their lives.
The Centre also allows them to be part of an active social scene as they focus on what they can do – not what they can’t. Eventually beneficiaries are able to become the ones providing support to others which is a huge part of their rehabilitation.
All of our beneficiaries are getting busy living again post-injury and we are proud of them all.
You can donate to the Foundation by using the QR code below.
The Centre provides expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, mentoring, wellbeing and emotional support, and practical advice to people after life-changing injury

The Margaret Jefferson Memorial Restricted Maiden Stakes
Margaret and Michael shared a love of horse racing and were regulars visitors to Redcar racecourse when Margaret was well enough to attend. They continued to watch racing at home when they couldn’t attend the actual course.
Margaret sadly passed away in March this year and her family would like to thank Michael for his care and dedication over the last few years. They would also like to thank the dedicated carers from A&B Home Care who treated Margaret like theirvery own queen. She loved their regular visits, and they always got a smile and a laugh from her.
The family would like to honour the memory of Margaret and give thanks to Michael by sponsoring 2 races today which are named after them.

The Michael Hunter Handicap Stakes
