DUBAI DUTY FREE SHERGAR CUP 2025

Ascot, Saturday, August 9th

SPECIAL ’DRAW’ PROCEDURE

The British Horseracing Authority has granted special permission to the Ascot Racecourse Executive to stage a ’Draw’ at Ascot Racecourse on Thursday, August 7th at which jockeys from the four competing teams of Great Britain & Ireland, Europe, Asia and the Rest of the World will be allocated to horses. Results of this draw will be available from 2.00 pm on Thursday, August 7th.

ALLOCATION OF HORSES TO TEAMS

1. In all races, the horses selected to run will be those with the highest official BHA Handicap Ratings.

2. Once the final fields are known on Thursday, August 7th, the 10 runners in each race will be ranked by form experts from 1 to 10. A complex formula has been created to ensure that each of the four teams - Great Britain & Ireland, Europe, Asia and the Rest of the World - receives a balanced spread of higher and lower ranked horses and, further to that, that each of the three jockeys representing each team also gets a balanced spread of higher and lower ranked horses for his/her five rides.

3. Once the ranking process has been completed, the four team names will go into a ballot. The order in which they are randomly drawn will determine which set of horses is allocated to each team.

ALLOCATION OF RIDES

4. A second ballot will then take place. The three jockeys representing each team will be drawn at random to determine an order (e.g. GB & Ire 1, GB & Ire 2 and GB & Ire 3) and will then be allocated to their rides in accordance to the set formula.

5. The allocation of rides by this method will be final. Each owner and trainer declaring a horse to run at the 48-hour declaration stage is deemed to have accepted these conditions.

6. All owners of participating horses agree that jockeys will wear the colours of the team which they represent. The full colours worn by a jockey will correspond to his/her team. Jockeys riding for the Asia team will wear red and black colours; the Great Britain & Ireland team will wear green and black colours; the Europe team blue and black colours; and the Rest of the World team yellow and black colours. In addition, all jockeys participating will have an individual cap colour and carry their names on the back of their silks. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR ALL DUBAI DUTY FREE

SHERGAR CUP RACES

1. All six races will be limited to 10 runners and two reserves. Entries must be made by noon on Monday, August 4th. Declarations to run must be made by 10.00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7th. The British Horseracing Authority has modified the Rules of Racing to provide for the special arrangements which apply to the races taking place on this day.

2. The competition is a jockeys’ tournament (three on each side) and, as such, horses will represent one of four Teams: Great Britain and Ireland, Europe, Asia and the Rest of the World. All entrants are eligible to represent any team regardless of ownership. All owners of participating horses agree that jockeys will wear the colours of the team, as well as an individual cap, to which their horses are allocated. Owners’ Sponsorship may only be displayed by prior arrangement.

3. The trainers of horses which are not amongst the 10 highest weighted horses must indicate at the declaration stage whether they are prepared for their horse to be a reserve. If the number of declared runners exceeds the safety factor, two reserves will be selected. Those horses will be the two horses with the highest official BHA Handicap Rating amongst those which are subject to elimination from the race after the declaration stage and for which their trainers have indicated that they are prepared for their horse to stand as a reserve. If a trainer does not make any such indication

and cannot be contacted, the horse will not stand as a reserve. Should two or more horses have identical Handicap Ratings, elimination will be decided by random ballot. A horse will not be permitted to declare as a reserve if declaring for another race on the card.

4. The two reserves will be nominated R11 and R12. Of the two reserves, the one with the higher Handicap Rating will be nominated as R11 and the next as R12. If the two reserves have an identical Handicap Rating, their order will be decided by random ballot. Draw positions will be allocated to all remaining declared runners, including reserves. All 10 runners plus the two reserves for each race will be required to attend the racecourse. The case of a reserve not attending or running shall be subject to the provisions of the Race Entry Code (Reserves).

5. In the event of any of the original runners being declared a non-runner for a race UP TO AN HOUR BEFORE THE TIME FIXED FOR THE RACE, it may be replaced by a reserve horse up to 45 mins before the time fixed for the race.

6. In the event of there being a non-runner amongst the ten declared runners, R11 will replace that non-runner If there is a further non-runner, R12 will replace that horse in the same way Appearance money of £500 for each reserve that does not run will be paid by the Racecourse Executive to the respective owners of each horse attending.

7. Special conditions apply to the allocation of horses to teams and of jockeys to horses. The jockeys will be allocated to horses by a series of ballots. Please refer to the separate explanatory notice previously published in The Racing Calendar, under the heading British Horseracing Authority Notices. 8. Points, counting towards the jockeys’ team competition, will be awarded to the first five horses to finish as follows: Winner: 15 points; Second: 10 points; Third: 7 points; Fourth: 5 points; Fifth: 3 points.

THE CORAL STEWARDS’ CUP DRAW 2025

The British Horseracing Authority has granted special permission to the Goodwood Racecourse Executive to stage a public ’Draw’ at which authorised representatives of declared runners in the Coral Stewards’ Cup will, in an order decided by ballot, be given the opportunity to choose their stall number for the race.

The British Horseracing Authority has modified the Draws Code of the Rules of Racing to allow the ’Draw’ for the Coral Stewards’ Cup to take place at Goodwood Racecourse on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, commencing at 12.00 noon, in the 1812 Bar situated on the ground floor of the March Stand.

The procedures will be as follows:-

The ’Draw’ will be made by a ’personality’ and proceedings will be overseen by a British Horseracing Authority Official. The ’personality’ will select at random from a drum the name of a horse. The ’personality’ will then invite the trainer or authorised representative to select a stall number (of those available) for their horse. The authorised representative will have up to 60 seconds to do so.

Once a stall number has been selected then it cannot be changed - even if it is selected before the 60 second ’time period’ has expired. Trainers are advised that the loss of mobile telephone signal will not be accepted as an excuse for not choosing a stall by the deadline. Representatives should be in a position to select a stall on behalf of the trainer if for any reason they cannot gain or maintain contact with them.

If, for any reason, a horse drawn has not been allocated a stall when the 60 second ’time period’ expires, or if neither the trainer nor his representative attends the ’Draw’, then the said horse’s name will be set aside to be entered into a second ballot, to take place at the conclusion of the first, in which horses’ names will be drawn at random and automatically be allocated the lowest-numbered stall still available. Trainers are requested to give written notification to Goodwood Racecourse by 12.00 noon on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, of the name of the person nominated as their authorised representative for their entry in the race. Telephone authorisation will not be permitted except in special circumstances.

The authorised representative will be the only person permitted to select the stall number for their horse. Representatives will be required to ’sign-in’ at the 1812 Bar by 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 31st, 2025. In the event of any dispute, The British Horseracing Authority Official will make the final decision.
