WE’RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE TWO EX RACERS WITH US TODAY WHO ARE ENJOYING THEIR WELL EARNED RETIREMENT.
GOLDREAM and NEARLY CAUGHT ran in 93 races and won just over £800,000 in prize money between them – a couple of real superstars!
Nico ran 40 races during his career for trainer Hughie Morrison which started back in April 2013. He retired from racing after a win at Newmarket in September 2018.
He was very much a stayer and often competed over marathon trips. He loved a trip to France and finished third in the Group 1 Prix Du Cadran at Longchamp and winning the Group 2 Prix Kergolay at Deauville
We’re not biased, but the highlight of his esteemed career came when he won the 2015 running of the Phil Bull Trophy at Pontefract by an impressive 10 lengths He’s an absolute gentleman at home and loves lots of attention and nothing more than rolling in the field!
Remy ran 53 times in his career and was a real speedster for his trainer Robert Cowell He had an incredible year in 2015 – taking both the Group 1 Prix De L’Abbaye at Longchamp as well as the Group 1 Kings Stands Stakes at Royal Ascot.
He amassed almost £600,000 worth of prize money during his long career which started at Newmarket back in 2011. While he never ran at Ponte, he was a regular in Yorkshire running at York on 9 occasions
He is a lovely horse to deal with and has a wonderful, kind temperament.
Last summer we announced Nico as the Racecourses' first ever Equine Ambassador, and we must say Nico has taken to the role very well!
The other week, Nico (along with Remy), visited staff and patients at the Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract. They were loved by everyone and received plenty of carrots and polos.
At the beginning of the year, we launched our ‘Twelve Months of Giving’ for New Beginnings Horses. The campaign sees a variety of fundraising activity for New Beginnings taking place in every month this year, with the visit to the Prince of Wales Hospice forming part of the campaign in July.
with 2pm until 5.30pm
James Owen Thomas, award-winning environmental artist is hosting a free workshop today next to the Grandstand & Paddock Turnstiles!
James has created a piece of artwork for us previously as part of our sustainability campaign, using recycled materials including previous raceday leaflets and tickets! James has also worked for Great British Racing, having created a piece of art for the King's Coronation that was unveiled here at Ponte.
The workshop is designed for all abilities, its a chance to get creative in a relaxed, sociable atmosphere, learning how

A field of newcomers with the standout being DASH DIZZY, who’s bred to be sharp and is evidently held in high regard judged on his Group 1 entries. Powerful Glory proved popular at the Breeze-Ups and holds an entry for the Mill Reef so is another likely type, while Telepathic and Sands of Indi both hail from yards that can ready one.

This is wide open so at the likely odds it is worth siding with BEYLERBEYI to bounce back in style having gone too freely at Yarmouth last time and bag a fourth win of 2024. Nottingham runner-up Terries Royale heads the list of dangers with few miles still on the clock, although in-form trio Casilli, Zozimus and Al Marmar all need factoring in too.

Cases can be made for the majority of these, but they don’t come much more unexposed than WINNING POINT, who proved a different proposition from her debut when scoring at Lingfield last month and is open to further progress now heading down the handicap route. Bella Kopella wasted no time getting back to form recently, so she heads up the dangers, with May Blossom and recent C&D winner A Girl Named Ivy rounding off the shortlist.
