Welcome to Pontefract Racecourse Ladies Day

Ladies Day is kindly sponsored for another year by RIU Hotels & Resorts. RIU have generously donated a week long holiday for two to Mauritius to the winner of the Best Dressed Ladies Competition - there’s never been a better excuse to ‘dress to impress!’

The Best Dressed Competition will take place in the Parade Ring from 12.45pm for the Gents and 1pm for the Ladies.

Our Competition judges will be Maria, the National Business Manager for RIU Hotels & Resorts, Heart Radio’s drivetime presenters Dixie & Emma, plus two fabulous drag queens, Gucci Gaboré and Harvey Rose from Galileo’s Show-Bar in Pontefract!

Once the excitement of the Best Dressed Competition is over we look forward to an afternoon of great racing. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their valued and continued support.

On behalf of the team here at Pontefract Racecoursewe hope you have a lovely afternoon.

Best Dressed Gents: 12.45pm

Before the Ladies take to the stage, we have our Best Dressed Gents Competition. The Heart Angels will be handing out numbered cards. If you receive a card you will need to gather at the Parade Ring for 12.45pm and the winner will be announced shortly after. The winner will receive £350, the runner up will receive £100 and the second runner up £50.

Best Dressed Ladies: 1.00pm

If you would like to enter the Ladies Best Dressed Competition please make your way to the Parade for 1pm for the competition to begin. Those who have entered will then be wittled down to 20 finalists, before the top 3 are announced at around 1.20pm.

The runner up will receive a fabulous four night stay at the RIU Dubai (flights not included). The second runner up will receive a voucher for the gorgeous country wear clothing brand Grace & Dotty.

TIMEFORM VIEW 13/2, respectable fifth of 9 in handicap at Beverley (9.9f, good to firm) 16 days ago. On a handy mark and shaped as if she retained plenty of ability on reappearance, TFRHHHII BHA69

DECLARED RUNNERS 6 2023: MOTAWAAFEQ (FR) 7 8 12 Andrew Mullen 18-1 (Michael Appleby) 11 ran Blinkers worn by No. 2. Visor worn by No. 1, 4. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn by No. 3. Record Time: 1min 40.6secs; Median Time: 1min 45.90secs

Probable S.P.’s: 13-8 Garden Oasis (GB), 9-4 Zozimus (IRE), 8-1 Casilli (GB), 11-1 Patontheback (IRE), 12-1 Jean Baptiste (IRE), 16-1 Larado (FR)

ZOZIMUS has been shaping better than the result lately and, while he’s not the easiest to win with, he may well find this panning out ideally with the pair drawn inside him likely to compete for the lead. Garden Oasis is a clear player if he can get the outright lead and Casilli is worthy of interest after a mildly encouraging return.

Maria Battersby, Business Development Manager, RIU Hotels and Resorts will present a memento to the winning owner in the Winner’s Enclosure after this race. A cash prize of £50 will be presented to the stable employee in charge of the best turned out horse in this race

The winning horse will also receive a sack of carrots kindly donated by Poskitts Vegetable Farmers and Growers.
