SHIMMERING SANDS confirmed the promise of his reappearance in no uncertain terms fitted with a tongue tie at Doncaster 3 weeks ago, looking some way ahead of his mark in the process. The assessor has reacted with a 6lb rise but that looks lenient, so he’s the one to be with. Prophet’s Dream is an improving 4-y-o chasing a hat-trick so demands respect, with Million Thanks completing the shortlist.
Michael Shinners, Head of Sports PR for Sky Bet will present a memento to the winning owner in the Winner’s Enclosure after this race A cash prize of £150 will be presented to the stable employee in charge of the best turned out horse in this race, £75 to the second and £25 to the third.
The winning horse will also receive a sack of carrots kindly donated by Poskitts Vegetable Farmers and Growers.

A few of these still have the potential for further improvement but CAIUS CHORISTER sets a good standard and David Menuisier’s very useful and likeable filly can gain a deserved first success of the season. Luisa Casati is feared most on the back of her Goodwood success in similar company, with Voodoo Queen and Icykel appealing as the pick of the rest for place purposes.

A few with chances but COLD HENRY has yet to run a bad race since sent over staying trips so gets the vote with this return to 2m a plus for this son of Sixties Icon. Hat-trick seeking Blow Your Horn rates an obvious threat, though Adamaris figures on a handy-looking mark on his debut for Adrian Keatley and is worth a second look too.

Probable S.P.’s: 4-1 Fox Journey (GB), 13-2 Derry Lad (IRE), 10-1 Tamilla (GB), Wootton’sun (FR), Two Brothers (GB), Bollin Margaret (GB), 12-1 Haseefah (GB), Carrigillihy (GB), Demilion (IRE), 16-1 Geremia (IRE), 20-1 Fairmac (GB) PLAY
Plenty in with a squeak but the vote goes to FOX JOURNEY, who left previous efforts behind when making a successful reappearance/handicap debut at Newmarket last month, and with this extra distance sure to play to his strengths, Sir Michael Stoute’s 3-y-o is taken to double his tally Wootton’sun has returned in top form, so he could be the one to chase the selection home, with Derry Lad and Two Brothers also considered.
RACE RESULT
Michael Shinners, Head of Sports PR for Sky Bet will present a memento to the winning owner in the Winner’s Enclosure after this race. A cash prize of £150 will be presented to the stable employee in charge of the best turned out horse in this race, £75 to the second and £25 to the third.

Celebrating Racing Staff at Ponte:
Yesterday marked the start of Racing Staff Week. The week, led by Racing Welfare, is racing’s annual celebration of all the people who make our great sport possible from stud and stable staff to breeders, racecourse staff, administrators and everyone in between.
Today we want to celebrate all the stable staff attending today’s meeting.
There will be a prize draw for three Amazon gift vouchers. Three lucky people will take home either a £100, £50 or £25 gift voucher!
We will put the names of all those travelling with and looking after today’s runners into a hat and draw out three names.
Over at the stables Jo & Andy from Huggamug cater for the stable staff on a race meeting to ensure they get two meals to keep them going for the day, plus a complimentary range of soft drinks and sweet treats!
We have heard that Jo’s cakes are particularly popular! So we’ll also be sending everyone home with a slice to make the journey back go that bit quicker.
Thank you for all your hard work!
Have you found yourself yet on the 2023 WALL
OF FAME?
Head over to the Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure to see this years Wall of Fame!
If you can spot your face from one of our 2022 race meetings, simply note down the grid reference and visit the Raceday Office on a Raceday, where you will find details on how to claim your prize!

CONCORDE has shown much improved form sent handicapping this season, making it 3 wins from his 4 starts in 2022 with a cosy success at Redcar last time, and a 7-lb rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent him from landing the hat-trick. Silver Sword has also been going the right way this year and could be the main danger, ahead of Tasever.
