There were quite encouraging signs from the well-handicapped JARVIS on his AW reappearance 5 weeks ago and he’s given a chance to build on that. Indian Sounds is on a long losing run but the Paul Midgley stable does very well in this race so he’s feared most ahead of last week’s Ripon second Soul Seeker.

KNIGHT OF HONOUR: Following its run on 27/5/2023 it was reported that the horse was slow to leave the stalls.

REAL TERMS: Following its run on 17/5/2023 it was reported that the horse was denied a clear run late-on.

Probable S.P.’s: 4-1 La Pulga (IRE), 9-2 C’Mon Kenny (GB), 11-2 Real Terms (GB), 13-2 Carrigillihy (GB), 7-1 Matchless (IRE), 8-1 Zealandia (FR), 12-1 Glasses Up (USA), 20-1 Knight of Honour (IRE), 40-1 Hezmie (IRE)

PLAY SMARTER

Having caught the eye in a big-field York handicap last month, REAL TERMS could be the answer to this competitive contest. She did well to finish as close as she did on the Knavesmire, all things considered, and remains just 1lb above her last winning mark. C’Mon Kenny also left the strong impression that his turn is near when a closing third recently at Haydock and he is second choice ahead of stablemate Zealandia and Matchless.

TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.REAL TERMS 2.C’MON

Bobby Beevers, Chair and Founder of Autism in Racing will present a memento to the winning owner in the Winner’s Enclosure after this race. A cash prize of £30 will be presented to the stable employee in charge of the best turned out horse in this race.

The winning horse will also receive a sack of carrots kindly donated by Poskitts Vegetable Farmers and Growers

The above list is the best turned out winners of each race from our last meeting. We appreciate all of the hardwork and effort that the Lads and Lasses put into their horses before they run here at Ponte!

This year we would like to reward the yard that receives the most best turned out awards at the end of the season with a tasty treat! Currently there is a three way tie at the top of the table, between Roger Fell, Micky Hammond and Richard Fahey, each yard has already won three Best Turned Out Prizes this year!

Thank you!

There are 3 stations in Pontefract – Monkhill, Baghill and Tanshelf. Pontefract Tanshelf is more or less opposite the entrance to the Park, whereas Monkhill and Baghill stations are more centrally located in Pontefract and are around 2 to 3 miles from the course. If you don’t fancy the walk through the Town, taxis are available at the stations.

There is a fourth station at Glasshoughton which adjoins the Xscape complex. This is a couple of miles from the Racecourse. If you have some time to kill, from near Glasshoughton Station (starting in the car park to B&Q!), there is a lovely walk through the Park to the Racecourse. It will take around 45 minutes.
