TWILIGHT RACEDAY
TUESDAY 26TH MAY 2026
Wewereincrediblydisappointedtoloseour10thMayLadiesDayfixtureduetoa local case of Equine Influenza. We are therefore so pleased to have secured this additional raceday thanks to the support of the BHA, giving us the opportunity to welcome all of our wonderful racegoers back to Plumpton before we bring the curtain down on the 2025/26 racing season.
It’s been 10 years since our last evening fixture, and today’s sunshine is a welcome contrast to the weather National Hunt racing is so often known for. We hope you enjoy the racing, atmosphere, and summer setting with us today.
OursincerethanksgotoourseasonpartnersBetGoodwin,KalmKitchen,Southern Cranes and Access Ltd for their outstanding support throughout the 2025/26 season, along with today’s race sponsors Kalm Kitchen and Bruce Hardwick.
Across the season, we’ve welcomed over 620 runners and seen prize money exceed £1.3million. It’s been a pleasure to see both local and travelling yards shine, all lifted by the unmistakable Plumpton Roar.
Ahugethankyoualsogoestoourteam, members, sponsors, andeveryracegoer who has joined us this season. Your support has made 2025/26 truly special.
We wish you a wonderful summer and look forward to welcoming you back on 20th September for the start of our new season.
We are also delighted that our new season opener will now feature ‘Ladies Day at Season Opener’ on 20th September. Following the loss of Ladies Day in May 2026, this will be a spectacular celebration of racing, live music, fashion, and entertainment in the heart of the South Downs. From thrilling racing and a vibrant atmosphere to family fun including the rodeo bull, sweeper arm, garden games, and Best Dressed competitions, it promises a day to remember. And of course, under 18s always go free at Plumpton.

Bit - A piece of metal that sits in the horse’s mouth and is attached to the bridle and reins.

Bridle - A piece of tack that fits over a horse’s head and to which the bit and reins are attached.
Bumper - Also known as a National Hunt Flat race, this race has no obstacles. Used as a way to give horses race experience before tackling hurdles and fences.
Chase - A race run over fences.
Cheekpieces - A form of headgear which consists of pieces of sheepskin placed on either side of the bridle and performs a similar job as blinkers in helping the horse to concentrate.
Clerk of the course - The person responsible for the overall management of a racecourse on a raceday.
Fences - The type of obstacle jumped during a chase race.

Hurdles - The obstacles jumped during a hurdle race. They are smaller than fences and therefore take less jumping. Sometimes referred to as flights.

Pulling - A horse who is keen during a race and wants to go faster than its jockey is allowing.
Pushed out - Describes a horse who has gone clear of its rivals in a race after minimal urging from its jockey.
Staying on - A phrase referring to a horse who finished strongly during the closing stages.
Stewards’ inquiry - An inquiry held at the racecourse on a raceday after any given race.

Turn of foot - A term to describe marked acceleration during a race.
Under starter’s orders - Before a race, the starter brings the field of horses into order to prepare them for the start of the race.

Point-to-point winner KAMILLE AU KANADA has run with credit on both bumper outings and she makes plenty of appeal on her hurdling debut. The six-year-old should appreciate this step up in trip and gets the nod over the experienced Nelson Gate. The 94-rated gelding arrives on the back of a respectable third at Fontwell and he’s unlikely to be far away. Arfursgal should not be discounted either.
totewin: Kamille Au Kanada
toteeachway: Nelson Gate
Goodwin arrives on the back of victory over C&D and he must enter calculations off just 4lb higher in the ratings. However, it could be worth chancing MOTAZZEN to bounce back. Henrietta Knight’s charge appeared to find a drop in trip at Fontwell against him 12 days ago and this test looks to be more suitable. Diplomatic Ash could also figure reverting to hurdles.
totewin: Motazzen
toteeachway: Goodwin
Having displayed a willing attitude to make a winning chase bow at Stratford recently, Captain Cool holds leading claims once more. However, a 7lb penalty does demand more from the sixyear-old and LAKEFIELD FLYER may prove to be better treated. A recent fifth-placed return over timer at Sligo was encouraging and Shark Hanlon’s gelding looks to be more than capable of scoring at this level. Stable debutant Seeyouinmydreams is a feasible alternative.
totewin: Lakefield Flyer
toteeachway: Captain Cool
C&D winner BEGIN THE LUCK had I Shut That D’or over five lengths in arrears when finishing second at Fontwell last time, and he’s expected to confirm his superiority over that rival en route to further success. The latter still merits respect, but Cher Monsieur took home the silver medal on his fencing bow at Uttoxeter and might prove to be the main threat.
totewin: Begin The Luck
toteeachway: Cher Monsieur
5 Veteran Earth King rolled back the years to score at Hereford three weeks ago and must be respected from 4lb higher, but it is SEA INVASION that shades preference. Six visits to this venue have resulted in four wins and although three of them have come over the larger obstacles, he is competitively handicapped back hurdling. Striking A Pose is next best.
totewin: Sea Invasion
toteeachway: Earth King
YASMINA, a C&D winner in February, is progressing well over hurdles and her affinity with this course makes her an appealing option under top weight. Chad Bament helps on that score and his 5lb claim in the saddle could be a telling asset. Goodwin Face also has track-and-trip experience and represents connections that tend to do well here, while Alibey and Reteti are open to progression and help to make this a competitive event.
totewin: Yasmina
toteeachway: Goodwin Face
Dan Skelton has found a good opportunity for GETMYFRIEND to follow up what was a ready win in a similar event at Southwell 15 days ago. The manner of that success created a big impression and she is hard to oppose despite the 7lb penalty cancelling out her mare’s allowance. As Padel Whacker and River Ore were both well held on their debuts, the stoutly-bred Scotto could be the biggest danger.
totewin: Getmyfriend
