Complimentary Official Racecard & Form Guide
Welcome
A very warm welcome to Perth Racecourse for the opening day of our historic Glorious Finale, as we begin two days of racing to bring our 2026 season to a spectacular close. The Glorious Finale is steeped in history, with racing in Perth dating back to 1613 on the South Inch, before moving to our magnificent setting in the parklands of Scone Palace in 1908. More than four centuries later, this much-loved fixture remains a fitting way to celebrate another memorable season of racing at Perth. On the track today, we have a competitive card of National Hunt racing, with horses, trainers and jockeys travelling from across the UK and Ireland. As the summer jumping season draws to a close and attention turns towards the winter months, we can look forward to plenty of exciting action, close finishes and fantastic racing. We are also delighted to welcome Perth & Kinross Foodbank as our charity partner for the Glorious Finale. The charity provides vital support to people across our local community, and we are proud to use our final fixture of the season to help raise awareness of its important work. Please look out for the Foodbank team around the racecourse today and support them if you can. Our sincere thanks go to all the owners, trainers, jockeys, stable staff, sponsors and partners who have supported racing at Perth throughout the year, and to everyone involved with today’s runners for choosing to race with us. Finally, thank you to you, our racegoers, for joining us today and for your support throughout the 2026 season. Whether you are a regular visitor or experiencing Perth Racecourse for the first time, we hope you enjoy every moment. Good luck, enjoy the racing and may the winners be plenty!

Star Ratings Explained
HANDICAPS Once a horse’s ability has been assessed by the Official BHA Handicapper it is given an official rating. This is an assessment that determines how much weight it shall carry compared to the other runners. In simple terms a horse rated 100 carries 2lbs less than a horse rated 102. A rating over 130 is well above average and the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup is normally rated over 160. Most handicap races have an upper rating limit to encourage runners of similar ability to take part and make a competitive race e.g. 0-110, and a 28lb weight-range.
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH HHHHI HHHII HHIII
Selected to win the race. Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims. Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HURDLE RACES HIIII Can be given little or no chance. One Fit Padded Hurdle: The ‘One Fit’ design is a modified hurdle frame with a custom fitting close-cell foam pad replacing the traditional birch. The hurdle was developed with the objective of reducing both the faller rate and the risk of injury as the result of a fall. They are 3ft high and placed in the ground at an attractive angle to encourage horses to jump them fluently. At Perth there are five flights of Hurdles on the course. Eight are jumped in a two mile race, nine in a race over two miles and five furlongs and eleven in a race over three miles. STEEPLE CHASES Steeplechase fences are made from hardwood frames stuffed tightly with birch. When making a fence the birch is packed in at a height of approximately 6ft, then cut down to a maximum height of 4ft 6”. There are five ‘plain fences’ on the course at Perth and two ‘open ditches’. An Open Ditch is the same height as a plain fence but has a small ditch in front of the fence to make them a bigger test for the horse and rider. At Perth there are two open ditches on the course, the first fence in the straight and the first down the back straight. Perth is one of the last remaining racecourses to have a Water Jump, this is situated in front of the main Grandstand and is much smaller than the other fences, with a 6ft wide water jump behind a small birch fence. There are eight steeplechase fences on the course. Twelve are jumped in a race over two miles, fifteen over two miles and four furlongs and nineteen in races over three miles. WEIGHT FOR AGE RACES These races are designed to provide a fair and competitive contest before a horse is allocated a weight, according to his ability, to run in a Handicap. These races are therefore normally for young horses aged from 3 to 5-y-o. As a 5-y-o is deemed to be stronger than a 3-y-o he/she will be made a to carry a little more weight. Once a horse has won a weight for age race he/she will be asked to carry a ‘penalty’; this is normally an additional 7lbs. Once a horse has won or run three times in a Weight for Age race he can be assessed and given a weight in a Handicap Race.

The procedures for Claiming and Selling Races have changed. No Claims will be accepted on the racecourse. No additional period is allowed for Friendly Claims. Registered Owners, Licensed and Permitted trainers may claim by telephone, to Weatherbys on 01933 303080.
first race has been run, all ticket holders should retain tickets. Information regarding refunds or transfers will be posted to pre-paid tickets holders within seven days of the abandonment; all other applications should be made to the racecourse office within the same period. In the event of racing being abandoned after the first race has been run, all badge holders should retain their passes. Refunds will not be made unless at the discretion of the management.
Admission Policy The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to, or expel any person from, the racecourse without assigning a reason for doing so, and does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to persons or to their property.
Cash Machines A cash machine is available within the Grandstand Enclosure by the Main Entrance and The Barn.
Horse Welfare Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider. People join the racing industry because they share a genuine love for horses. Like most sports, racing carries risks, however, we work to ensure that no death or injury occurs which could have been prevented. Horses have the right to a decent and fulfilling life, both during their racing career and afterwards. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. It is now standard practice for screens to be erected round any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course. This does not reflect the severity of the injury but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calm environment in which to make a recovery. Please therefore do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.
No Smoking Smoking or vaping is not permitted in any enclosed public places within Perth Racecourse. It is an offence to smoke or knowingly to permit smoking in any enclosed areas of the Racecourse and where you see the no smoking sign.
Such claims must be made within 15 minutes of the start of the race. A BHA Security Code is required (to apply, contact Weatherbys on 01933 440077). No premium will be payable in the event of unopposed Friendly Claims. For more information, please ask the Director of Racing.
Photography Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication. Flash photography is essentially dangerous where horses are involved. You are asked not to use flash photography anywhere in the grandstand enclosure and particularly near the winner’s enclosure.
Racecourse Safety Message In the event of an emergency at the racecourse, all racegoers will be notified via safety messages over the racecourse PA System. Please follow the instructions of the messages and also of the racecourse staff and police. In the event of evacuation, please remain calm and assist the racecourse by leaving your area in a safe and orderly manner. If you feel you require extra assistance, please notify the nearest member of the racecourse staff. It is also forbidden to cross the course when the horses are out on it. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Radios and Mobile Telephones The use of all types of communication equipment is strictly controlled at all racecourses. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc., for any purpose at the racecourse. Further details are available from the racecourse office.
Stable Staff Liaison At Perth, as at the other racecourses in Scotland, the enjoyment and welfare of stable staff is very important to us. To help ensure that any ideas for improvements or any complaints can be addressed at a suitable time, Matthew Taylor. Please contact Matthew on racedays in the Raceday Office or telephone 07521 517495.

HORSE WELFARE Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider. People join the racing industry because they share a genuine love for horses. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course. This does not reflect the severity of the injury, but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calm environment in which to make a recovery. DECLARED RUNNERS 12 2025: STILETTO 7 12 0 Sean Bowen 3-1 (Sophie Leech) 10 ran Hood worn by No. 7. Tongue Strap worn by No. 2, 3, 6. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn by No. 2, 5, 11. Stewards Note: JUDICIAL REVIEW: Following its run on 29/8/2026 it was reported that the trainer could not explain the poor run. Probable S.P’s: 4-1 Forest Spirit (IRE), 6-1 Seeyainthesuninn (GB), 7-1 C’Mon So (IRE), 8-1 Luckie Devil (IRE), 9-1 Magic Gloves (IRE), 10-1 Fairly Fulling (IRE), 14-1 Anamanda (FR), Judicial Review (IRE), 16-1 Masterminding (IRE), 28-1 Les’s Destiny Star (IRE), 33-1 Autumn Getaway (IRE), 50-1 Fortunes Dawn (IRE) FOREST SPIRIT benefited from the step up to around 3m when narrowly denied at Worcester earlier in the month and might be able to go one place better. Two wins this summer mean Seeyainthesuninn merits plenty of respect, while C’mon So has reached the frame over C&D on his last 2 outings and should figure again. A market move for Nicky Richards handicap newcomer Luckie Devil would also bring him firmly into the reckoning. TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.FOREST SPIRIT (IRE) 2.SEEYAINTHESUNINN 3.C’MON SO (IRE)
