HORSE WELFARE

Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider People join the racing industry because they share a genuine love for horses. Like most sports, racing carries risks, however, we work to ensure that no death or injury occurs which could have been prevented. Horses have the right to a decent and fulfilling life, both during their racing career and afterwards. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. It is now standard practice for screens to be erected round any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course This does not reflect the severity of the injury but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calm environment in which to make a recovery Please therefore do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse

NEW CLAIMING PROCEDURES

The procedures for Claiming and Selling Races have changed. No Claims will be accepted on the racecourse No additional period is allowed for Friendly Claims. Registered Owners, Licensed and Permitted trainers may claim by telephone, to Weatherbys on 01933 303080

PLAY SMARTER

GREEN SKY is by no means bulletproof but a mere reproduction of her latest effort at Ayr will probably be good enough, with this step up in trip unlikely to pose any problems. Lets Mingle wasn’t far behind the selection in that Ayr maiden and she is the clear main danger Assuming that the race came too soon on her hurdles debut and she is able to leave that form behind here, Getaway Frankie could be the one to claim minor place money.

A tight-knit handicap but FOLLOW CHARLIE rates just the pick of the weights and is taken to gain a deserved victory at the chief expense of in-form Theirshegoes who also figures on a lenient mark. Tread Softly Now is another who can have a say in a very open contest, while Intertwine is worth keeping an eye on in the betting.
