Complimentary Official Racecard & Form Guide
Welcome
A very warm welcome to Perth Racecourse for the second and final day of our Glorious Finale, and the closing fixture of our 2026 racing season. After an exciting opening day, we are delighted to welcome you back for another afternoon of competitive National Hunt racing as we bring the curtain down on another fantastic season at Perth. The Glorious Finale holds a special place in our history. Racing in Perth dates back to 1613 on the South Inch, before moving to our spectacular home in the parklands of Scone Palace in 1908. More than four centuries later, it remains a fitting finale to our season and a wonderful celebration of Perth’s proud racing heritage. Today promises another competitive card, with horses, trainers and jockeys from across the UK and Ireland taking to the track. With the winter jumps season approaching, there is still plenty to race for, and we look forward to an exciting afternoon of action. A special thank you goes to all of the Glorious Finale race sponsors – Weatherbys, Racing TV, Nairn’s, Dewhurst Bookmakers, Edinburgh Gin, House of Bruar, Kinneston and Equine Products. Your continued support and commitment to racing at Perth is greatly appreciated and plays an important part in helping us deliver the Glorious Finale. We are also proud to continue supporting our Glorious Finale charity partner, Perth & Kinross Foodbank, and the vital work they carry out within our local community. Please look out for their team around the racecourse and support them if you can. As our 2026 season draws to a close, we would like to thank our owners, trainers, jockeys, stable staff, sponsors, partners and, of course, you, our racegoers, for your continued support throughout the year. From everyone at Perth Racecourse, thank you for being part of our 2026 season. We hope you enjoy one final afternoon of fantastic racing. Good luck, enjoy the Glorious Finale and may the winners be plenty!

Star Ratings Explained
HANDICAPS Once a horse’s ability has been assessed by the Official BHA Handicapper it is given an official rating. This is an assessment that determines how much weight it shall carry compared to the other runners. In simple terms a horse rated 100 carries 2lbs less than a horse rated 102. A rating over 130 is well above average and the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup is normally rated over 160. Most handicap races have an upper rating limit to encourage runners of similar ability to take part and make a competitive race e.g. 0-110, and a 28lb weight-range.
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH HHHHI HHHII HHIII
Selected to win the race. Good chance of being placed. By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims. Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HURDLE RACES HIIII Can be given little or no chance. One Fit Padded Hurdle: The ‘One Fit’ design is a modified hurdle frame with a custom fitting close-cell foam pad replacing the traditional birch. The hurdle was developed with the objective of reducing both the faller rate and the risk of injury as the result of a fall. They are 3ft high and placed in the ground at an attractive angle to encourage horses to jump them fluently. At Perth there are five flights of Hurdles on the course. Eight are jumped in a two mile race, nine in a race over two miles and five furlongs and eleven in a race over three miles. STEEPLE CHASES Steeplechase fences are made from hardwood frames stuffed tightly with birch. When making a fence the birch is packed in at a height of approximately 6ft, then cut down to a maximum height of 4ft 6”. There are five ‘plain fences’ on the course at Perth and two ‘open ditches’. An Open Ditch is the same height as a plain fence but has a small ditch in front of the fence to make them a bigger test for the horse and rider. At Perth there are two open ditches on the course, the first fence in the straight and the first down the back straight. Perth is one of the last remaining racecourses to have a Water Jump, this is situated in front of the main Grandstand and is much smaller than the other fences, with a 6ft wide water jump behind a small birch fence. There are eight steeplechase fences on the course. Twelve are jumped in a race over two miles, fifteen over two miles and four furlongs and nineteen in races over three miles. WEIGHT FOR AGE RACES These races are designed to provide a fair and competitive contest before a horse is allocated a weight, according to his ability, to run in a Handicap. These races are therefore normally for young horses aged from 3 to 5-y-o. As a 5-y-o is deemed to be stronger than a 3-y-o he/she will be made a to carry a little more weight. Once a horse has won a weight for age race he/she will be asked to carry a ‘penalty’; this is normally an additional 7lbs. Once a horse has won or run three times in a Weight for Age race he can be assessed and given a weight in a Handicap Race.

Information regarding refunds or transfers will be posted to pre-paid tickets holders within seven days of the abandonment; all other applications should be made to the racecourse office within the same period. In the event of racing being abandoned after the first race has been run, all badge holders should retain their passes. Refunds will not be made unless at the discretion of the management.
Admission Policy The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to, or expel any person from, the racecourse without assigning a reason for doing so, and does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to persons or to their property.
Cash Machines A cash machine is available within the Grandstand Enclosure by the Main Entrance and The Barn.
Horse Welfare Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider. People join the racing industry because they share a genuine love for horses. Like most sports, racing carries risks, however, we work to ensure that no death or injury occurs which could have been prevented. Horses have the right to a decent and fulfilling life, both during their racing career and afterwards. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries, and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. It is now standard practice for screens to be erected round any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course. This does not reflect the severity of the injury but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calm environment in which to make a recovery. Please therefore do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse.
No Smoking Smoking or vaping is not permitted in any enclosed public places within Perth Racecourse. It is an offence to smoke or knowingly to permit smoking in any enclosed areas of the Racecourse
Such claims must be made within 15 minutes of the start of the race. A BHA Security Code is required (to apply, contact Weatherbys on 01933 440077). No premium will be payable in the event of unopposed Friendly Claims. For more information, please ask the Director of Racing.
Photography Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication. Flash photography is essentially dangerous where horses are involved. You are asked not to use flash photography anywhere in the grandstand enclosure and particularly near the winner’s enclosure.
Racecourse Safety Message In the event of an emergency at the racecourse, all racegoers will be notified via safety messages over the racecourse PA System. Please follow the instructions of the messages and also of the racecourse staff and police. In the event of evacuation, please remain calm and assist the racecourse by leaving your area in a safe and orderly manner. If you feel you require extra assistance, please notify the nearest member of the racecourse staff. It is also forbidden to cross the course when the horses are out on it. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Radios and Mobile Telephones The use of all types of communication equipment is strictly controlled at all racecourses. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc., for any purpose at the racecourse. Further details are available from the racecourse office.
Stable Staff Liaison At Perth, as at the other racecourses in Scotland, the enjoyment and welfare of stable staff is very important to us. To help ensure that any ideas for improvements or any complaints can be addressed at a suitable time, Matthew Taylor. Please contact Matthew on racedays in the Raceday Office or telephone 07521 517495.

Race preview from Weatherbys The penultimate race on today’s card is the Paul Ferguson’s Jumpers To Follow Handicap Hurdle, a Class 5 event which is a qualifier for the Go North Brindisi Breeze series. It is the second race over the two days to be sponsored by Weatherbys, on behalf of the popular publication, which is again available to buy on course this afternoon. Staged over a trip just shy of 3m, the 0-105 contest features locally-trained runners in the shape of Maillot Blanc (Nick Alexander) and Reflection of You (Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore). The former was a course-and-distance winner in June 2025 and was a winner at Kelso in May, on his penultimate start. Pulled-up when last seen, the nineyear-old returns from a break of 109 days. Reflection Of You finished down the field over fences at this fixture last year and showed improved form when reverting to hurdles during the winter. A winner at Musselburgh shortly before Christmas, she finished third at the same track in early-February and has been absent since. Unexposed as a stayer, she has more to offer but might just need this first start in 235 days. The evergreen Dalileo won twice over course-and-distance in July but has since struggled from higher marks. Back down to 98 (last won off 95), the 11-yearold has fitness onside and failed to make an impact after a first flight mistake here WEATHERBYS RACE PREVIEW
earlier this month. The weights are headed by Susan Corbett’s Wee Alki, who recorded a second hurdles success at Hexham in May, and is another who failed to complete when last seen. Although he has yet to win over hurdles (0-6 at present), Way Maker is an interesting contender on handicap debut, with the longer trip something which could unlock further improvement. Mickey Bowen’s dual bumper winner is from the family of Irish Grand National winner, Rogue Angel, so should stay well, and from a mark of 102, should be capable of making his presence felt in this kind of grade.
Maillot Blanc was a courseand-distance winner in June 2025 and was a winner at Kelso in May. Champion Jockey, Sean Bowen, rides the dual purpose mare Steps In The Sand for Ciaran Murphy, whilst Broken Ice (John McConnell) is the other Irish challenger. The latter finished third here last month in a similar contest. Another veteran, Secret Secret, and Jetovango complete the field of nine. The latter has had more starts in Points than under Rules and makes his first start for Tristan Davidson today, having joined his Cumbrian base from Daniel William O’Sullivan in Ireland.
