2022: BRITZKA (IRE) 4 11 13 Sean Bowen 6-1 (Gordon Elliott) 6 ran

Tongue Strap worn by No 1, 2, 4. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn by No 6.

Probable S.P’s: 6-4 Garde des Champs (IRE), 9-2 Well Planted (FR), 6-1 McGowan’s Pass (GB), 17-2 Harel du Marais (FR), 10-1 Cirque Royal (GB), 12-1 Willyouwalkwithme (IRE), 28-1 Frightened Rabbit (USA)

Garde des Champs is sure to be popular after his recent breakthrough success over C&D but he may have to play second fiddle to veteran MCGOWAN’S PASS, who hasn’t won for a long time but deserves plenty of credit for consistency and signalled he could be ready to strike when going close at Market Rasen 11 days ago. Well Planted and Cirque Royal can battle out third spot.

The Result

Horse Welfare

Racing’s top priority is the safety and welfare of horse and rider People join the racing industry because they share a genuine love for horses. Like most sports, racing carries risks, however, we work to ensure that no death or injury occurs which could have been prevented. Horses have the right to a decent and fulfilling life. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care.

It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the course This does not reflect the severity of the injury, but allows the vet some privacy in which to administer treatment and provides the horse with a calm environment in which to make a recovery Please therefore do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse
