Several in with a squeak but NINETOFIVE showed much improved form on the back of a breathing operation when runner-up at Hexham 6 weeks ago and, with the potential forbetter to come now tackling a longer trip, Sandy Thomson’s 6-y-o can make a winning start to life in handicaps. Rickety Gate was in good form when last seen in the winter so he may emerge as the main danger after a 3-month break, with Kingston Bridge and stable-switcher Asserted another couple to consider

The Royal Caledonian Hunt

The Club was instituted at Hamilton in 1777 under the title ‘the Hunters Club’ but the name was changed the following year to ‘The Caledonian Hunt. On the occasion of the visit of King George IV to Scotland in 1822, His Majesty became the Patron of the Hunt whose members gave a ball in his honour in Edinburgh. Since that time, the royal prefix has been added and the reigning Sovereign continued as Patron until 2002. HRH The Princess Royal was appointed as honorary Preses in 1974 and succeeded as Patron in 2002

HRH The Duke of Kent was appointed as Honorary Preses in 1985.

There are 70 gentlemen members, all with Scottish roots and who enjoy racing and/or hunting. They dine annually in Edinburgh.

The Hunt meets each year at a different Scottish Racecourse

The running of the first race was at Kelso in 1779. The Royal Caledonian Hunt Club Cup was first competed for at Perth in 1818 and was won by the Earl of Eglington’s “Sans Culottes”.
