We kicked off the 2023/24 season with a scorching hot 75% strike rate from the handful of spring runners. Jigginstown King chalked up a double over fences, Sambezi won over hurdles and Robin Des Fox placed second after a lengthy break before the lull in runners until the autumn.
As we headed into October our luck seemed to dry up just as the rain started to fall. We picked up some unlucky injuries which sidelined some of the best horses, including French Paradoxe. The yard just about stayed above water but between the rising bournes and falling rain it was a soggy season all round.
There were still some notable performances, Mad About Sally won a mare’s chase at Chepstow, The Scorpion King finally put it all together to win at Fontwell and How And Ever ran well in a hot bumper before winning over hurdles later in the season. There is plenty of unexposed talent on the yard too, with several of last season’s stores looking to debut as four year olds over the coming months.
We head into the new season with a decent string, with winning campaigners like Willsburg and Decorated looking to progress through the ranks and returning horses fit and well having taken time and care to rehab them properly alongside youngsters looking to make their mark on the racecourse.
We hope that you enjoy looking through the brochure and following the horses progress through the season.
Very best wishes,
Ollie & Katherine

Homebred from Dunaden’s final crop he’s a big lad who is still growing into himself. He’s been in light training whilst he matures and will aim for a bumper run in the latter stages of the season. There’s no rush with this lad, who will make a staying chaser in time .

Purchased at Tattersalls Ireland in May 2023 he had several growth spurts last winter before going for a racecourse gallop at Kempton. He weakened in the closing stages of his debut bumper at Market Rasen but the jockey report was positive and he’s filled out over the summer break. He will continue to run in bumpers before starting over novice hurdles.

We like the Sageburg stamp and this is another rangy, athletic horse with an active brain. He won his third Irish point to point by six lengths at Castlelands last season. He showed some slick jumping and a strong finish on yielding/soft ground. We will see the best of him over fences in the coming seasons.

After getting his head in front at Exeter in April 2023 in his first handicap run it was really frustrating that he was on the bench last season. He’s the biggest horse on the yard and has plenty of scope to continue progressing this winter. He is a well put together chaser in the making and should step up this season.

Started last season as favourite for the Native River Chase at Chepstow on ideal ground conditions but unfortunately finished the race lame. It’s interesting looking back at the season stats, although there were more horses on the yard we actually had less runs than the previous season. This reflects some of the injuries we picked up but also the patience shown to some of the younger horses, 5 of which are still waiting to make their debut bumper runs this season.
The one stat that we are hugely proud of is the consistently high strike and place rates over fences, Ollie loves the big National Hunt types who find their best form over fences and the results continue to reflect this.
Kicking off the 2024/25 season we have had 12 runners to date, operating at a 50% placing 1st-4th rate over chase and hurdle races.
Strike rate: 13% - 8 wins from 63 runs
Top 4 placings: 35% - 22 placings from 63 runs
Strike rate over fences: 31%
Top 4 placings over fences: 63%
Strike rate: 19% - 14 wins from 74 runs
Top 4 placings: 47% - 35 placings from 74 runs
Strike rate over fences: 40%
