Northampton Town, MK Dons, Southampton under 21s and Stevenage are all competing in the Southern Section Group C of this season’s competition.

The top two of the group will qualify for the knock out stages of the competition, with the group winners playing at home in the first knock out stage with the runners up away from home.

CONGRATULATIONS SAM! Congratulations to Sam Hoskins who made his 200th appearance for the club in the game at Bristol Rovers on October 3rd.

IF THE GAME ENDS IN A DRAW

If the game ends in a draw, there will be a penalty shoot out with the side who wins the shoot out earning an extra point in the group.

AS IT STANDS

Heading in to the second game of the group, MK Dons have three points after beating the Cobblers 3-1, while Stevenage also have three points to their name, having overcome Southampton under 21s 2-1 in their opening fixture.

FULL STRENGTH TEAM

A reminder that each EFL club is required to play its full available strength team in and during all EFL Trophy matches. Full available strength means the EFL club must include at least four qualifying players in the ten outfield players named in the starting eleven on the teamsheet.

7.4 Qualifying player means any player who: • 7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding first team fixture; • 7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following first team fixture; • 7.4.3 is in the list of ten players at the club with the highest number of starting appearances in first team fixtures this season; • 7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in first team fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same club or season); or • 7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League club or any EFL club operating a Category One Academy.

ALEX REVELL

Former Cobblers striker Alex Revell was appointed Stevenage manager in February this year following the departure of Graham Westley.

In his first managerial role, Revell was appointed Stevenage under 18s coach after retiring from playing in 2019 and was later appointed first team coach when the club parted company with Dino Maamria.

The 37-year old striker spent 18 months with the Cobblers between June 2016 and January 2018, scoring 13 goals in 57 appearances before signing for Stevenage.

He began his career at Cambridge United and has also played for Kettering, Brighton, Southend, Swindon, Wycombe, Leyton Orient, Rotherham, Cardiff, Wigan and MK Dons.
