AFTERNOON RACING WE DNE SDAY 7 TH OC TOBE R OFFICI AL R ACEC ARD £3

DANIEL CRAGGS General Manager, Nottingham Racecourse

Welcome to Nottingham Racecourse and thank you for joining us for today’s racing. It is a particularly poignant day for everyone at Nottingham as we come together to remember our late Chairman, Jeremy Bradbeer, who sadly passed away in August. Today would have been Jeremy’s birthday, and it is fitting that we are able to honour his memory by staging a race in his name. Jeremy made a hugely valued contribution to Nottingham Racecourse and to racing more widely, and his presence, knowledge and support will be greatly missed. We are grateful to his family, friends and colleagues for joining us today as we celebrate his life and remember the contribution he made to our racecourse. As always, it is a pleasure to welcome owners, trainers, jockeys, stable staff, officials, sponsors and racegoers to Nottingham. We are delighted to continue our autumn racing programme and hope you enjoy an afternoon of competitive racing with us. I would like to thank everyone involved in making today’s fixture possible, with specific thanks to our dedicated team, together with the officials, veterinary teams and all those who work tirelessly to ensure that every raceday at Nottingham is delivered to the highest standards. Today is an opportunity to remember Jeremy, to celebrate his life while enjoying everything Nottingham Racecourse has to offer and the people who make Nottingham such a special place to come racing. Thank you for joining us, and I hope you have an enjoyable afternoon with us. We look forward to welcoming you back to Nottingham throughout the remainder of the season.

EXPERT VIEW

A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.

How the experts rate the horse’s chances:

Look out for Letters: C D CD BF

= Has won at this course = Has won over this distance = Has won over this distance at this course = Was a beaten favourite

MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM / P F U R CO B S r

= New racing season = Missed racing season = Was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race = Horse fell = Rider unseated = Horse refused to race = The horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse = Horse was brought down = Horse slipped = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race = Disqualified

d Bold form figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races

2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse. 3. Timeform view and TFR rating 4. HORSE’S TRAINER & THEIR LOCATION

Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race. 5. JOCKEYS Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day. OTHER USEFUL DETAILS 6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey 7. Saddlecloth number 8. Horse’s name 9. Days since the horse last run 10. Horse’s age 11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs) 12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire), mother (dam) & dam sire 13. Horse’s owner 14. Horse’s breeder 15. Birthplace of horse (outside GB) 16. Draw – position of the horse in the starting stalls

BETTING EXPLAINED Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.

Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

It is with great sadness that we remember Jeremy Bradbeer, Nottingham Racecourse’s Chair, who sadly passed away in August. Jeremy was incredibly passionate about racing and Nottingham Racecourse. He joined our committee in January 2022 before becoming Chair at the start of 2023. He also served on the committee at Market Rasen and was a Member of The Jockey Club. Today, we will honour Jeremy’s memory with a special race in his name. Our thoughts remain with Jeremy’s wife Serena, his family, friends and all those who knew him.
