AFTERNOON RACING THURSDAY 1ST OC TOBE R OFFICI AL R ACEC ARD £3
DANIEL CRAGGS General Manager, Nottingham Racecourse
Welcome back to Nottingham Racecourse, and thank you for joining us for today’s racing. After our short break in the racing programme, it is a pleasure to welcome everyone back to Nottingham as we restart our season. It has been a difficult period for everyone at Nottingham Racecourse following the sad passing of our Chairman, Jeremy Bradbeer, in August. Jeremy made a valued contribution to the racecourse and will be greatly missed. We look forward to paying tribute to Jeremy at our next raceday on 7 October, which falls on his birthday, when we will stage a race in his honour. As we begin the second part of our racing season, I would like to thank everyone who has continued to support Nottingham Racecourse during our break. There has been plenty of work taking place behind the scenes, and I am grateful to our team for ensuring the racecourse is ready to welcome everyone back today. My sincere thanks also go to our owners, trainers, jockeys and stable staff, together with the officials, veterinary teams and dedicated colleagues across every department at Nottingham Racecourse. Their professionalism, hard work and commitment ensure that every raceday is delivered to the highest standards. We are also extremely grateful to everyone who continues to support Nottingham Racecourse by coming racing, sponsoring our fixtures and being part of our community. Your support is hugely appreciated. We hope you enjoy your afternoon with us and look forward to welcoming you back throughout the autumn.

EXPERT VIEW
A quick way to see a horse’s past performance. These are its recent finishing positions.
How the experts rate the horse’s chances:
Look out for Letters: C D CD BF
= Has won at this course = Has won over this distance = Has won over this distance at this course = Was a beaten favourite
MORE INFORMATION ON THE FORM / P F U R CO B S r
= New racing season = Missed racing season = Was pulled-up and didn’t finish the race = Horse fell = Rider unseated = Horse refused to race = The horse was forced out of a race by a loose horse = Horse was brought down = Horse slipped = The horse ran around a jump or took the wrong course in a flat race = Disqualified
d Bold form figures = performance in all-weather (Flat) or Point-to-Point (Jump) races
2. BHA rating = the higher the number, the better the horse. 3. Timeform view and TFR rating 4. HORSE’S TRAINER & THEIR LOCATION
Look out for the summary of leading course trainers before each race. 5. JOCKEYS Listen out for any jockeys who are having a successful day. OTHER USEFUL DETAILS 6. Owner’s colours worn by the Jockey 7. Saddlecloth number 8. Horse’s name 9. Days since the horse last run 10. Horse’s age 11. Jockey’s weight (stone and lbs) 12. The horse’s breeding – father (sire), mother (dam) & dam sire 13. Horse’s owner 14. Horse’s breeder 15. Birthplace of horse (outside GB) 16. Draw – position of the horse in the starting stalls
BETTING EXPLAINED Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first. ‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.
