Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

In Loving Memory...
Roger Marriott, or as most know him as “Big Rog” loved racing over the years...
My grandad and I have been all over the country from York to Somerset and a few places in between. He fell in love with racing when I started doing yard work for Laura Morgan back in 2018 and his love just grew from then. He would check the paper everyday for Laura’s runners cheering every horse over the line no matter where they placed.
He watched me graduate from Newmarket which was a very special moment. Soon after, we ventured to Nigel Tinkler, where he met his favourite jockey, Faye McManoman.
His excitement only grew when I got the job working for Paul Nicholls, travelling down to Somerset for the first time - he was like a kid in a sweet shop! Every horse the assistant trainer showed him, his smile just grew. From then on, every horse I looked after and rode he would ask about everyday.
I can’t express how lucky I felt having a grandad who loved my job as much as I did. Every time I ever felt down he would always tell me to keep my chin up. His love for racing was like no other and we all miss him dearly. I try everyday to make him as proud as possible!
