BETTING EXPLAINED

Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

2022: No corresponding race

Stewards Note: CUBANISTA: Following its run on 24/6/2023 it was reported that the horse hung left-handed.

NORTHERN SPIRIT: Following its run on 1/7/2023 it was reported that the horse hung left-handed.

Probable S.P’s: 11-4 Shallow Hal (GB), 3-1 Wadi Bani (GB), 5-1 Mutanaaseq (IRE), 11-2 Northern Spirit (GB), 10-1 Cubanista (GB), 20-1 Glamorous Express (IRE), 22-1 Tiger Trap (GB)

PLAY SMARTER

WADI BANI was strong in the betting prior to finishing a creditable sixth (not beaten far) at Newbury last time, so he’s worth a chance to capitalise on a drop in grade. Shallow Hal arrives on the back of success at Carlisle and remains well treated on old form, so he’s regarded as the main danger ahead of Northern Spirit.

This looks between MISS DOLLY ROCKER and Pourquoi. Ifthe ground remains on the slow side Roger Teal’schargewillbetakinga stepintotheunknown,asherreappearance/turfdebutnear-miss at Bath was on fast ground, whereas Pourquoi’s debut second at Windsor was on heavy, so the forecast conditions won’t be a problem where she’s concerned. Still, the form ofMiss DollyRocker’s Bath effort looks solid and she will take some stopping if handling conditions. Sonnet Star is best ofthe rest.

BRABUSACH is taken to deservedly get his head in front having found just one too good on each of his last four starts. He didn’t appear to have any problems with the slow surface at Salisbury last time and deserves a change of luck. Ice Shadow and Lincoln Rockstar can do battle for minor honours.
