AFTERNOON RACING

WEDNESDAY 13 OCTOBER 2021 Official Racecard £2.00

THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU

A very warm welcome to Nottingham today for Construction Day, an exciting afternoon of racing which provides an opportunity to meet and socialise with colleagues and other businesses from within the construction sector. Whether this is your first visit to Nottingham Racecourse or you are an Annual Badge Holder, we very much hope that you can make the most of this relaxed and accessible venue. The grandstands all offer superb views across the course and the layout of Nottingham makes it very easy to see the horses up close in the pre-parade and parade ring. The first three races on the card, the divided British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes and the British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes, are exclusively for two year olds who have not won a race. Given Nottingham's excellent record in providing maiden winners who go on to climb the grades, it is well worth following those who perform well. The final three races on the card are all sprint handicaps over five furlongs, which look highly competitive and will no doubt provide an exciting spectacle. Once again though, they will be tricky races in which to predict the winner. We are very grateful to the European Breeders Fund and Racing TV for their very generous sponsorship of today's racing. We ask all attendees to read the advice later in this racecard, which explains what we can all do to keep each other safe whilst on course. We wish all the horses and their connections the best of luck today and hope that you have a wonderful time with us here at Nottingham Racecourse, perhaps coming away with some new contacts and hopefully a winner or two. RICHARD PILKINGTON Chairman - Nottingham Racecourse

PLAY SMARTER

VOODOO QUEEN certainly takes the eye on pedigree being by Frankel out of Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Cursory Glance, so she’s taken to make a winning start. Fellow newcomer Peace Offering looks another likely type for John & Thady Gosden, while River of Stars made an encouraging start at Sandown and is expected to improve.

PLAY SMARTER

REFUGE has yet to hit top form this season, but there were positives to glean from his latest effort in the Redcar handicap won by High Security. Beaten 2 1/4 lengths into sixth that day, Refuge meets that rival on 6lb better terms this time and he could be the answer to a wide-open race. Twice Adaay will be a big player if able to bounce back, while Cometh The Man and Aleef are others to consider.

Health And Safety Notice The Racecourse would be grateful if you would observe all Health & Safety requirements whilst you are at Nottingham Racecourse. The emergency exits from the bars onto the grandstand steppings are painted yellow and we would request that you do not stop whilst in this area. We would also request that only those that are disabled use the disabled viewing ramp and that parents keep a close eye on all children and prevent them from climbing the running rails and getting on to the actual racecourse. We would also like to remind racegoers that the first aid room is located on the ground floor of the Centenary Stand.

Behaviour And Dress Code The Dress Code in the Premier Enclosure is smart casual - no untidy denim, t-shirts, trainers, or fancy dress, only tailored shorts are acceptable. The Racecourse reserves the right to refuse admission to the Premier Enclosure to patrons failing to comply with the above request.

Racehorse & Jockey Welfare All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials are here to ensure that the racecourse delivers those standards. In addition Nottingham Racecourse employs two veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey.

Dogs No dogs are permitted on the Racecourse with the exception of assistance dogs. Food & Drink Alcohol, glass bottles and glass/china receptacles must not be brought onto the Racecourse. Picnics are permitted on the Grandstand trackside lawn only. Prize Money The Horserace Betting Levy Board General Prize Fund scheme provides for the inclusion of £333,600 at this Racecourse in 2020.

If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.

Media Coverage All Attendees are reminded that many races and fixtures are given coverage on television, radio, online and in print, as well as by the racecourse in its own marketing literature. By entering the racecourse, attendees are accepting that they may appear in such broadcast and print coverage or in literature produced by the racecourse itself. Accordingly, attendees shall have no right to object to their inclusion in any such material. Each attendee will give any additional consents or waivers required for the unrestricted lawful use of any coverage (if any) without request for payment or imposing any other conditions.
