GOOD EVENING AND WELCOME BACK TO SIXFIELDS FOR TONIGHT’S GAME WITH TRANMERE ROVERS, WHICH, BECAUSE OF THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK, IS OUR FIRST HOME GAME FOR A MONTH.

JAMES WHITING

S

ince my last set of programme notes, Sports Alpha Capital have completed their acquisition of the club and I am sure many of you have either met, read or heard Joao, Tim, our new Co-Chairmen or Pedro from Sports Alpha Capital talking about their plans for the club. It has been a pleasure to get to know and to work with our new owners over the last few weeks. Everyone involved in the group is very ambitious and has the determination to take the club forward, but they also have a realistic and sensible approach to where we are and that is a really good balance to have. Joao, Tim and the investors understand and want this to be a long term project, a project where the club grows gradually and sustainably over the next few years and that takes time. I was really impressed with the knowledge that Joao, Tim and the rest of the group had about the club when they arrived, they had clearly done a lot of homework, and over the last few weeks the new owners have met as many different people as they possibly could. That process will continue for sometime yet of course, and if you haven’t yet had the chance to meet our new owners, a reminder that there is an Open Forum taking place here at Sixfields on Thursday evening with the It’s All Cobblers To Me podcast. All supporters are welcome, doors open at 6.30pm and the event starts at 7pm. Before we move on, we must say thank you and pay tribute to Kelvin Thomas, who recently stepped down as Chairman after nearly eleven years

in the role. Kelvin, and his partners David Bower and Nigel Le Quesne have done a terrific job for the club, when Kelvin and David came in the club was in very real danger of going out of business, wages and bills had not been paid and the East Stand was a shell of course. Fast forward nearly eleven years, we now have an award winning stand, a host of community awards, a thriving community programme, a strong academy and a growing female football programme as well as an expanded education programme. On top of all that, having inherited a club that was millions of pounds in debt, the club is now debt free and all Northampton Town supporters owe Kelvin, David and Nigel a huge amount of gratitude. That they are staying on the board and working with and supporting Sports Alpha Capital is a huge benefit to the club and shows how professionally and amicably the acquisition has been handled. On the subject of thank yous, thank you to everyone who was part of the sold out away end at York City a week and a half ago. The excellent support was matched by a good performance on the pitch, we were just all a little frustrated we couldn’t quite see the game out. However, a point at York, who had won their previous thirteen home games, is a result to be respected.

ntfc.co.uk

ntfcdirect.co.uk

We followed that up with an excellent win at Grimsby Town on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who travelled, you will have seen a first class performance and a deserved victory. Congratulations to Chris Hogg and the players and best wishes to Grimsby defender Edon Pruti who picked up what looked a nasty injury in the second half. We wish him a speedy recovery. We are at home again on Saturday of course when we play Colchester United in a lunchtime kick off. That game is live on Sky Sports and is also the first Saturday home game since Sports Alpha Capital took over the club. We are hoping for a bumper attendance to mark the occasion and a reminder that season ticket holders can bring a friend to the game for half price. Please see ntfc. co.uk or visit the ticket office for more details. Don’t forget we have rearranged two games in the next month or so. The home game with Oldham Athletic will be played on Tuesday November 3rd while the away match at Port Vale is now on Tuesday November 24th. Tickets purchased for the original dates in the recent international window are valid for the new dates. Please enjoy the game tonight and we look forward to seeing you back here on Saturday!

MEET THE NEW CO-CHAIRMAN JOAO XAVIER João is a Brazilian lawyer who graduated from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), widely regarded as one of the leading law schools in Brazil. After graduation, he joined a well-known Brazilian law firm specialising in offshore structures, private wealth, and international transactions. During his time there, he advised on several Brazilian and cross-border capital markets and M&A transactions. João later transitioned into the investment industry, focusing on venture capital and private equity. He joined Igah Ventures to lead Investor Relations and Fundraising, participating in a number of significant fundraising processes. During his tenure, Igah Ventures was subsequently acquired by Pátria Investimentos, one of Latin America’s leading alternative asset managers, currently with over USD 50 billion under management. Over the years, João developed relationships with investors and strategic partners who later became involved in Sports Alpha Capital. JOAO’S THOUGHTS “Some people are surprised we chose Northampton. They say why, we say why not? This is a great club, with great foundations, great support, great community links, is debt free, and has the chance to move forward so why not? We get some fans are sceptical and we understand that, but we are very excited. “We spoke with a number of clubs in England and having done our homework, we are happy with the opportunity we have at Northampton. “The approval process was longer than we expected and planned with a lot of work involved but that’s good, it gives everyone confidence. Thank you to my partners, Pedro and 6

Tim who made this happen as well as our investors. The process was very rigorous and we understand that but we are through that and we know we are in a protected and safe environment. “We want the club to be as sustainable as possible. That can be helped with new sources of revenue, new sponsorships, new ideas. We want to be successful on and off the pitch and we are confident we can achieve that.” TIM CHAMBERLAIN Tim Chamberlain is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Brunel Partners, a São Paulo-based fund advisory business. Brunel was set up in 2015 to help Latin American fund managers connect with investors around the world, working with many of the best names in the industry. After growing up in Bristol and later earning a degree in Geography from Oxford Brookes

University, Tim started his career in 2000 with the financial publishing house Euromoney in Hong Kong. After two years at Euromoney, he joined Eurekahedge, an Asian hedge fund data business based in Singapore, to help build out their fundraising operations focused on Asian funds. Following two years in Singapore, Tim moved to New York to open Eurekahedge’s office and spearhead business development across North America. From 2006 onward, Eurekahedge expanded beyond representing Asian funds, prompting frequent travel to Latin America until Brazil became home in 2010. Away from work, Tim’s family are active foster parents in Brazil, welcoming their ninth temporary guest in 2025. Tim also sits on the board of Instituto Pamplona, an NGO on the periphery of São Paulo that supports children in developing positive habits through Mixed Martial Arts.

TIM’S THOUGHTS “This is a very good club, the community, the potential, there is so much to like. “It won’t happen overnight, our plan is to build and progress, week on week, month on month, year on year. We are here for the long term, this is not an overnight thing. We want to engage with supporters, to move forward and we are looking to really build something here. “Gradual growth is our aim. If it comes suddenly and happens quickly then great but that can’t be the expectation, we have to be realistic. Will I be happy if we are a League 2 club in five years time, no, but the reality of football is that it is unpredictable but we see ourselves growing and moving forward on the field step by step. I think the fans will be happy with what we are building but our aim will be to build and move forward in a sustainable way. “Chris Hogg speaks really well. He is a student of the game and what really struck me is the connection he has with his players. We believe in

him and his work and we are looking forward to working with him moving forward. “It’s an honour to be here as custodians of the club. We feel the community spirit, we want to

enjoy it and build on it and take the club forward. I am looking forward to meeting as many supporters as possible over the weeks and months ahead and we are really excited about what the future holds.”

NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN 1 LONDON BEES 0

By Emmy Somauroo

orthampton Town Women picked up their first home win of the season at the O’Riordan Bond Stadium with a 1-0 win against London Bees in their final game of the FA Women’s National League Cup group stage. Angel Dade scored the only goal of the game in the first half, catching the Bees goalkeeper out with a strike inside her own half. The Cobblers were quick to make an impact when Amber Dredge sent a dangerous cross into the penalty area inside the first five minutes. Lauren Bartle was in goal for the home side and didn’t fail to show her strength under pressure. Bartle made a series of saves across the first 15 minutes as well as intercepting a dangerous pass on the edge of her penalty area. This was followed up two minutes later by a first time shot from London Bees that had developed from a free kick, again handled with precision. The visitors were awarded another free kick in the Cobblers half, but Northampton goalkeeper collected the ball safely. London Bees were tested defensively throughout, TJ Warren stepped up to take a free kick in the 19th minute which forced the visiting keeper to make a crucial save. Noble matched this three minutes later forcing another crucial save to be made by London Bees. Dade’s incredible strike from inside her own half bounced over the goalkeeper’s head and into the back of the net, to score the first and only goal of the game in the 27th minute. The Cobblers defence remained strong against a series of attacks from London Bees across the rest of the first half but the work of Dade, Pollard, and Noble continued to 10

inflict pressure onto their backline at the other end. Esme Summers took the opportunity to strike five minutes before the break, but the ball was saved and redistributed into play. HALF TIME: Northampton Town Women 1-0 London Bees. The Cobblers started the second half brightly when Daisy Barritt drove down the left on the hour mark and found Noble whose effort was too powerful and went over. Head coach Matt Vernon made his first substitution in the 72nd minute of play, where Alyx Mills came on to replace TJ Warren. Dade continued to make an impact with 14 minutes left, doing well to intercept London Bees’ play and drive through the space. She followed this by taking the opportunity to strike from distance, but the ball travelled just wide of the top right corner. A second substitution for the Cobblers took place a minute later, with Rameyah Farquharson entering

onto the pitch in replacement of Dade. London Bees went close inside the final ten minutes when a cross from the right was headed onto the cross bar. With seven minutes left, Esme Summers made way for Phoebe Orton to enter onto the pitch to see out the final minutes. The last two minutes were handled well defensively by the Cobblers where they stood strong and cleared the danger from a series of corners from the visitors. FULL TIME: Northampton Town Women 1-0 London Bees. Cobblers: Bartle, Hillman, Noble, Gilbertson, Pollard, Dredge, Summers, Dade, Sharpe, Warren, Barritt. Subs: Farquharson, Mills, Orton, Stewart. THE AWAY TEAM

TRANMERE ROVERS

T

WELCOME TO TRANMERE ROVERS

ranmere Rovers currently sit 17th in Sky Bet League Two on 12 points, two points above the Cobblers. After a 21st placed league finish last season, Rovers started the current campaign unbeaten in their first five matches. Tenth in the table going into the international break, Darrell Clarke’s side have drawn six of their eleven league games this season but they come into tonight’s game on the back of a 2-1 home defeat at the weekend. Will Vaulks put Rovers ahead on Saturday but in-form Barnet came

from behind to turn the scoreline at Prenton Park around. To make matters worse for Tranmere, Joel Senior was sent off in stoppage time after being shown a second yellow card and he will therefore be unavailable for selection on Tuesday night. FAMILIAR FACE Ryan Watson recently re-joined Tranmere on a short-term deal with the midfielder now in his third spell with Rovers. Watson also previously had three spells at Sixfields, the first two on loan from Leicester City in 2014 and

2015 before signing permanently in 2019 after leaving MK Dons. In total across the three spells Watson made over 100 appearances for the Cobblers, scoring 17 goals. Former Cobblers defenders Patrick Brough and Jordan Turnbull are also part of the Rovers squad this season. Now in his fifth season at Prenton Park, Turnbull signed for the Cobblers in January 2018 and made over 90 appearances in two and a half seasons at Sixfields, scoring 5 goals. Brough meanwhile joined Rovers in the summer of 2025 after spending two seasons at Sixfields, scoring twice in 46 appearances.
