Newton Abbot Racecard - Sunday 20th July

Page 1

A VERY WARM WELCOME TO YOU ALL FROM ALL THE TEAM HERE AT NEWTON ABBOT RACECOURSE FOR OUR FAMILY FUN DAY FEATURING THE ROWCROFT HOSPICE MASCOT RACE. YOUR SUPPORT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED AND VALUED AND WE HOPE YOU ALL HAVE AN ENJOYABLE AND SUCCESSFUL DAY’S RACING WITH US.

Our thanks very much go to our sponsors here today, the friends and family of Dick Oliver, Zero to Exit, the friends and family of Brendon Soper, the Challis family, Darren Grabham and the friends and family of Stephen Hayes. We hope they and their guests have a great day.

- Today we have a host of family entertainment in the course enclosure which is open to all today so make sure you get along there – we have free goody bags for the first 200 children, Inflatables, Rowcroft Hospice stall including Splat the Rat, Face Painting, Moorland Rovers with RedPost Equestrian hobby horse course, a wandering Juggler, Bubble Fairy, Blaze, our Mascot will be out and about and there’s the Rotary Club stall with Hook A Duck

We also launch the Rowcroft Hospice Mascot Race which will start at around 1.55pm and be run down the final furlong of the racecourse. There’s a competitive line up which includes our very own Blaze and please see later in this racecard the full line up!

We have an exciting second half of the season ahead here at Newton Abbot, as we now have an enforced four week break, with plenty happening on and off course. Please have a look at our Fixture List with its raceday themes elsewhere in this official programme Next up is another of our famed Family Fun Days on 21st August where there’s an array of fabulous family entertainment on offer.

After that we have a couple of excellent Saturdays on 30th August where Harbour will be performing after racing and on 18th October which features our big race of the season, the Intermediate Chase. Our Family Fun Series concludes on Wednesday 29th October, which has a Halloween theme.

Just to reflect on how we have done so far this year and we are simply delighted to have been able to stage all of our fixtures so far, especially remembering 2024 when we lost 6 of our 18 racedays. It’s a great testament to all of the staff we have working so hard round the clock here and they deserve the best of luck for the remainder of the year

We look forward to seeing you again soon, remember to book in advance online to get your Paddock tickets for £18 rather than the on the day £20. Course Enclosure is £13.

Finally thank you to you all for supporting us through thick and thin, it is hugely valued and here’s to a memorable and successful season for all. Have a great day.

Best wishes

BOBBY’S FORTUNE was much improved when overcoming a pace bias to land a first hurdles success at Ffos Las last month and he remains of interest from this sort of mark. He can get the better of two-time course winner Gore Point who arrives better than ever, as does hat-trick seeking Sergeant Fury, for whom this is more of a test back in handicap company.
