Newton Abbot Racecard - Monday 13th July

Page 1

A very warm welcome to you all from the team here at Newton Abbot Racecourse, your support is very much appreciated and valued and we hope you all have an enjoyable and successful afternoon’s racing with us.

Our thanks go to our sponsors here today who are Sun Racing, The Racing Club, Racing to School, the Par Inn, William Hill and Mark Boulton. We hope that everyone enjoys their day with us

As well as the competitive racing today, we have a Shared Racehorse Ownership Day and we have several racing clubs with us today around the Parade Ring area happy to chat to you about potentially getting involved in having a share in a racehorse at a more affordable level than you may imagine. We also have the ROA with us today supporting the initiative. Our thanks go to everyone involved and you’ll hear from the various groups as we go through the afternoon. We also have Noble Endeavour parading today before our first race and he will also then be stabled in our temporary stable adjacent to the annual members bar, please do feel free to go and say hello and get up close.

This month sees the end of the first half of our summer season when on Sunday 19th July we have a fabulous family day featuring the Rowcroft Hospice Mascot Race, for which entries are now open. In addition to Blaze and the other mascots who’ll be racing up the final furlong around half an hour before our first horse race, we’ll have face painting, jugglers, fairies, inflatables, play park, hook-aduck, human fruit machine, South West Saints beat the goalie and more! We look forward to seeing you then! After the mid-summer break, we are back with the Saturday 22nd August fixture which is always great fun and features the legendary (in these parts) Sam and the Strings performing live after racing in the Paddock Suite. Then we quickly move on to our brand-new Abba Night fixture on Thursday evening 27th August when there’s loads of fun and prizes on offer as well as a great post racing performance by Abba tribute band Take A Chance On Us. Make sure you get your glad rags out!

Don’t forget too that Newton Abbot Racecourse is open all year round for events, special occasions, conferencing and much more, check out our events calendar on the website, drop us a line or give us a call if you have a specific enquiry, or want to hold your event here.

Finally thank you again for all your support through thick and thin, it is hugely appreciated and valued, and we hope to see you again soon - please see our full fixture list later in this racecard.

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions
