ON BEHALF OF THE DIRECTORS, SHAREHOLDERS AND STAFF , I AM DELIGHTED TO WELCOME YOU TO NEWTON ABBOT FOR OUR THIRTEENTH FIXTURE OF THE SEASON.
The Racing Industry continue to have many challenges. Summer Racing has been under the microscope.
Other challenges are small fields.
Newton Abbot have been very proactive with prize money this season, with good fields on most racedays.
We will continue to invest as much Executive Prize Money as we can for our remaining fixtures this season, and we will try to maintain those levels in the coming years. We hope all Owners will continue to support Newton Abbot Racecourse this year and our exciting race programme. We will continue to support grass roots racing.
We have increased all race values in Class 5 hurdles: maiden, novices, mares’ novicesmax prize money to £9,099. Other Class 5 hurdles prize money £9,500 - £12,500, Class 4 hurdles and chases prize money £10,000 - £15,000, Class 3 hurdles and chases prize money £18,000 and Class 2 hurdles and chases prize money £25,000 - £30,000.
Newton Abbot has 5 race meetings left in our season.
In September we have 3 meetings, Monday 9 September, Friday 20 September and Monday 30 September.
We close the season with Saturday 19 October and Wednesday 30 October
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible racegoers. Your support and enthusiasm drive everything we do.

STAR RATINGS EXPLAINED
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions.
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating. For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating. Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
