THIRD 2:05PM

Our meeting on Wednesday 4th May consisted of eight races.

1

Our first race, the Racing Partnership Novices’ Hurdle saw short-priced favourite Hang In There fail to justify his market position with Wild Max running out an emphatic thirteen legnth victory over Diligent. The Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old travelled strongly leading throughout and a good jump when at the last saw him seal the win, before quickening and extending his lead approaching the line, with jockey Harry Cobden on board to secure a comfortable success. It was the market co-favourite in the second with the Paul Nicholls-trained Eritage who bolted up by twenty four lengths, to get the Ditcheat team winner number two on the day beating the other co fav Goa Lil. The eight-year-old gelding chased the leader before taking things into his own hands at the 3rd, continuing to put his rivals two the sword with only Rouge Vif managing to keep tabs before falling two from home. After that it was plain sailing to the line. It was a similiar story in the third race with yet another favourite securing the win 4 with Largy G who saw off Sweet Moon by four lengths. The Noel Williams - trained eight-year-old travelled strongly throughout and led clearly after being held up throughout when approaching the last and was never in any danger of relinquishing his lead, despite wondering around on the run in. Greystoke broke the streak of winning favourites when bolting up in the fourth race of the meeting for trainer Alan King. The much younger legs of the four-year-old were held up through the race and had a good

pace to aim at and went clear when two out before being pushed along to extend that lead. Cannon’s mount ran green when hitting the front but won going away. There was a popular result in following race, with the Jackie Du Plessis challenger Valentino taking the honours, denying Nicholls his third winner of the day with Scatman. Valentino was held up behind the leaders and led at the last and battled hardest in a sustained battle with Scatman up the run in.

Next up, it was

5 7 Romain De Senam who took the hounors in what was probably the feature race of the day. The David Pipe - trained veteran disputed the lead throughout the race before hitting a flat spot where it looked like victory was out of the question, but the ten-year-old battled back gamely to regain the lead at the last before going on to win by five lengths. The penultimate race of the day saw Sweet Nightingale cruise to victory over Gibraltarian, under a confident Deutsch. The five-year-old was held up and led by a length when going clear approaching the last. Wednesday’s card was then completed with Camembert

Electric seeing off all who came to challenge, despite around in the closing stages but far enough clear that she was eased down approaching the last.
