PLAY SMARTER
This has a competitive feel and it may pay to side with a chasing debutant in the shape of TALLOW FOR COAL. He displayed plenty of ability on 2 of his 3 starts over hurdles and, a winner of his sole start in points, better can be expected now his sights are set on the larger obstacles. Ballyegan Hero is enjoying a good season and is feared, along with Soyouthinksoagain. TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.TALLOW FOR COAL (IRE) 2.BALLYEGAN HERO (IRE) 3.SOYOUTHINKSOAGAIN (IRE)

Brendon Soper was appointed as the Financial Director of Newton Abbot Races in September 1996. He retired from the board on the 1 June 2016.
Brendon’s vast financial knowledge and experience was always a great help to me and invaluable to the Board. It is, and continues to be, extremely difficult to run a small independent racecourse.
Brendon was a huge racing fan and spent time away from Newton Abbot as the raceday manager of Exeter and Taunton. He was a great supporter of the South West Racing Club. Brendon attended most club trips to other courses both in Ireland and England and always came to me after these trips with some tips and ideas that could be useful for Newton Abbot.
I will personally miss his warm smile and the banter we used to have. A great man who is a huge loss not only to all of us at Newton Abbot but equally to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
