Page 1

FRIDAY 31 OCTOBER 2025

WELCOME TO

With the 2025 season at Newmarket drawing to a close, excitement still runs high as we look forward to our Final Meeting of the Season here on the Rowley Mile. Over two fantastic days of racing we’ll celebrate another memorable year of racing while looking ahead to what’s to come.

Expect two afternoons of competitive fields and plenty of rising stars eager to finish the season on a high. Whether you’re here to cheer on your favourite jockey, spot next year’s hopefuls, or simply soak up the atmosphere, it promises to be a fitting finale to a superb campaign

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our sponsors - Düsseldorf Galopp, and the European Breeders’ Fund (EBF) - for their invaluable support of today’s card Their continued commitment helps make meetings like this possible We would also like to thank Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai, for their continued sponsorship of our Owners’ and Trainers’ facility.

On behalf of everyone at Newmarket Racecourses, we wish the very best of luck to all owners, trainers, and jockeys taking part, and we thank our loyal racegoers for their support throughout the season. We look forward to welcoming you back next year for more world-class racing on the Rowley Mile.

Best wishes,

CHALLENGE

WHIP

The Challenge Whip is a unique event in the British racing calendar. Such is the heritage of the race, it has a direct link to the origins of Flat racing in Newmarket

Originally, the winner of the Challenge Whip was awarded an actual whip as a trophy, which now hangs above the fireplace in the Coffee Rooms in the Jockey Club Rooms on Newmarket High Street

The whip dates back to the reign of King Charles II (1660-1685) who is understood to have carried it in races himself There is also evidence that the whip’s present wristband and lash consist of hair taken from the great horse Eclipse.

In recent years, winners of the Challenge Whip have been:

2024 Loving Look (Brightwalton Bloodstock Ltd)

2023 First Officer (Bryan Hirst & Jane Chapple-Hyam)

2022 Super Chief (Mr A E Oppenheimer)

2021 Rhebus Road (Mr T Syder & Mr D Burke)

2020 Zoran (Lord Derby)

2019 Felix (Fittocks Stud)

2018 Maori Bob (P Philipps, C Philipps, T Redman)

2017 Brief Visit (Cliveden Stud)

2016 Nigel (Normandie Stud Ltd)

2015 Golden Jubilee (Mrs J K Powell)

2014 Inspector Norse (Mr J C Smith)

2013 Gone Dutch (Mr J Richmond-Watson)

2012 Odin (Mr J C Smith)

2011 Vita Lika (The Hon P and Mrs F Stanley)

Today, the winning owner will be presented with a magnificent bronze sculpture to keep

Three centuries of heritage, one 2025 victor.

A handful of promising types and a few interesting newcomers clash in what has the look of a good novice. PRINCLING went into several notebooks when just failing to get up on his recent Kempton debut and gets the vote for William Haggas but there are lots of possible dangers, headed by Man of Vision and last month’s winners Yazin and Moving Shadow.

PLAY SMARTER

Unlucky not to finish closer when third at Leicester recently, LITTLE TIGER remains on an attractive mark and he is taken to lower the colours of Mc’ted, who made it 3-3 for this yard at Wolverhampton recently and is greatly respected under a penalty (officially 6lb ‘well-in’). The Jonathan Portman-trained duo Bownder and Wondrous Light both make each-way appeal, along with Huggable and Le Pelerin.

Racegoers must abide by any regulations including the observance of designated non-drinking areas

At Newmarket Racecourses we believe racing should be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. And one thing is certainly true, the more relaxed and comfortable we feel, the more likely we are to have a great time. So that’s why we’ve created one very simple piece of guidance, to come “dressed to feel your best”.

We’re all unique, and no more so than in our sense of style and comfort. For some, wearing a nice sweatshirt, pair of jeans and clean trainers is what makes them feel confident and at-ease. For others, they might prefer to turn heads with a sharp suit or glamorous dress and high heels, particularly for one of our big race meetings But whatever your tastes, the most important thing when choosing your outfit is, of course, comfort and confidence. So wear what feels right for you and will keep you feeling your best from start to finish, whatever the weather. Here’s some other useful tips and advice for making sure your time with us is as memorable as possible.

Fancy dress can often add colour and fun to our racedays, but please avoid inappropriate or offensive outfits, as anything deemed vulgar or derogatory may be refused entry.

We love other sports as much as anyone, but showing allegiance to a favourite club can sometimes appear antagonistic So, to keep things simple, please refrain from wearing team kits when attending one of our racedays.

Only individuals in possession of a valid betting badge and occupying an authorised pitch are entitled to lay bets in the course of their business. Any individuals found contravening these conditions will be evicted. Members of the public may not use two-way radios, scanning receivers etc, for any purpose at the racecourse.

EMERGENCY NOTICE

In an event of an emergency please be guided by our security stewards and by messages you will see and hear around the racecourse We would advise that you keep your personal belongings with you at all times. In the event of an evacuation please do as requested by Newmarket Racecourses Management and security staff They will direct you to a safe place. Do not attempt to regain access to buildings

RACEHORSE & JOCKEY WELFARE

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Newmarket Racecourses employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
