On behalf of everyone at Betfred I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to Newmarket for The Betfred Guineas Festival.
Last year Betfred became the first ever company to sponsor all five British Classics, and I’m delighted to be supporting all five races once again
British horse racing is undoubtedly the best in the world, and I will indeed be a very proud spectator this weekend here at Newmarket
As well as putting the British Classics back on the map, I also want to reinvigorate the Triple Crown and therefore, once again, I am offering a two-million-pound bonus if any horse can win this year’s Betfred 2000 Guineas, Betfred Derby and the Betfred St Leger
Fifty-six years has been far too long to wait for a repeat of Nijinsky’s outstanding feat.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who helps make these days so special, the management and staff of Newmarket Racecourse, who have made Betfred feel so welcome, Jockey Club Racecourses, ITV Racing, Racing TV, and never forgetting you, the racegoer.
I hope you all win a few quid off the bookies but most importantly, have a fantastic day and enjoy the 2026 Betfred Guineas Festival
Enjoy the racing and be lucky.
Fred

Welcome back to the Rowley Mile for the third and final day of the Betfred Guineas Festival.
I would like to begin by thanking our sponsor, Fred Done and all the team at Betfred, for their generous support across all three days of the Festival
We are also extremely grateful to Oliver Brown, who sponsor with us at Newmarket for the first time, and who have recently opened a new branch in Cambridge. We also thank the Hong Kong Jockey Club and World Pool for their ongoing support. Throughout the season, we extend our thanks to the European Breeders Fund for their contributions to prize money, and to Al Basti Equiworld for their continued support of our Owners and Trainers facility.
After two fantastic days of racing and entertainment, we look forward to bringing the Festival to a memorable close with another superb afternoon of action both on and off the track. We are once again grateful to Betfred for their continued support across all three days of the Festival.
Today’s seven-race card is headlined by the Group One Betfred 1000 Guineas, the second Classic of the Flat season and one of the most prestigious contests for threeyear-old fillies. Steeped in history, the race has been won by outstanding fillies such as Minding, Love and Hermosa.
Away from the racing, there is plenty of entertainment to enjoy around the course. Racegoers can take advantage of a wide variety of food and drink, along with familyfriendly activities in the Garden Enclosure The Betfred Sports Zone will feature live darts throughout the day with Keith Deller, Colin Lloyd and Paul Wilson, alongside multi-sport simulators.
We hope you enjoy a wonderful conclusion to the Betfred Guineas Festival and wish all horses, owners, trainers and connections the very best of luck. We look forward to welcoming you back to Newmarket in the future for one of our many fixtures, from music nights to the Debenhams July Festival, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

YEARLING horse of either sex from 1 January to 31 December of the year following its birth.
Given the form of ESNA’s maiden success at Sandown was boosted when the runner-up landed the Feilden Stakes here last month, while her most recent start was a commendable fourth in the Marcel Boussac at Longchamp, the daughter of Starman readily boasts the most convincing profile. Sacred Ground is second choice after a creditable second at this level over a mile here when last seen, while Lilt and Maldives, who cost 2,900,000gns as a yearling, are potential improvers to consider.
Although CATHEDRAL hasn’t managed to add to the maiden success registered on her racecourse debut, the daughter of Too Darn Hot ran consistently well in some high-profile events in the intervening period Having previously got the better of the likes of Chantilly Lace, Survie and Falakeyah in past encounters, there is a lot like about her chance here. The first-named of that trio of old rivals is still of low-milage and is tentatively forwarded as the biggest danger to the selection.
Dramatic Star is very capable of a bold showing and could be hard to beat if first-time cheekpieces draw improvement now he is back on turf. Subsequent and Align The Stars also rate highly after returning to winning ways last time and are musts for the shortlist. Preference, however, is for MANY MEN, who progressed nicely last year and could provide a bit of value, with this representing a drop in class.
Oneofthesefilliescanaddtheirnametoanillustriousrollofhonourinwhatlooksamouth-wateringrenewalofthisClassic. Last year’s Cheveley Park heroine True Love had no issues stepping up to 7f in a Group 3 at Leopardstown, suggesting she ought to be even better over the mile. Even so, O’Brien’s main hopes appear to rest with champion juvenile PRECISE, who capped off a star-studded campaign with success in the Fillies’ Mile over track and trip. She can take all before her this season, including this, but we’ve seen a number of hard-luck stories down the years and there is no shortage of extremely smart horses waiting to capitalise Of those, Rockfel second The Prettiest Star is appealing, as is Venetian Sun, whilst it would be extremely unwise to rule out the likes of Abashiri and shock Nell Gwyn victor Azleet
A 550,000gns purchase and a half-sister to the talented Mill Stream, Crownbreaker makes considerable appeal ahead of her racecourse bow. There is no shortage of talent etched into Efsixteen’s pedigree either and she’s worth considering for a yard in flying form, whilst the booking of Ryan Moore aboard the Richard Hughestrained Lazurite makes her one of many to be interested in That being said, previous experience could be vital, not least C&D form, so with that in mind CALL ME TOMORROW gets the vote. Richard Hannon’s filly was only beaten a head into second on her debut last month and is probably the one to beat given natural improvement.
NAPA finished an encouraging fourth at Newbury on debut, considering he showed signs of greenness and failed to get a clear run. The son of Naval Crown should be a lot wiser for that experience and is taken to turn the tables with third-placed Jaan Ki Tukri. The latter is also likely to step up for that initial run and should prove competitive, while Ryan Moore’s presence on the newcomer Agamemnon takes the eye
Study Of Words bolted up in a weak maiden here back in October. However, he’s fitted with cheekpieces for this handicap debut and SAHARA KING makes more appeal The latter has a recent outing under his belt, having finished a close fifth in a decent novice race at Newbury last month, and Richard Hannon’s charge could prove the one to side with Crockham Heath and Gatehouse made winning handicap debuts on the all-weather with the former preferred.

ProbableS.P’s: 11-8 Esna (IRE), 9-4 Sacred Ground (GB), 10-1 Lilt (GB), 14-1 Maldives (IRE), 16-1JenniferJane (IRE), 22-1 Brigid’s Well (IRE), Spinning Lizzie (GB)
ESNA sets the bar high on her Group 1 fourth in France last autumn and is preferred to Sacred Ground, who showed a lot of promise in 2 outings over 1m last autumn and could have plenty more to offer over longer trips this year given she’s out of an Oaks winner Doncaster debut scorer Lilt is another interesting contender

Introducing Little Italy, a vibrant new dining destination bringing the heart and soul of Italy to the Rowley Mile. Created by Napoleat—well known for their popular presence across the courses in recent years—this exciting new facility marks the next chapter in their culinary journey at the Rowley Mile.
What began as a humble wood-fired oven, serving up perfectly blistered Neapolitan-style pizzas, has grown into a complete Italian experience. At Little Italy, guests can expect far more than just exceptional pizza. The menu celebrates the richness of Italian cuisine, from fresh handmade pastas and seasonal antipasti to indulgent desserts, all crafted with authenticity and flair. The warm, inviting atmosphere captures the spirit of a traditional Italian piazza, making it the perfect place to gather, relax, and enjoy outstanding food.
Set against the iconic backdrop of the Rowley Mile, Little Italy blends race-day excitement with laid-back Mediterranean charm. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely meal, this new space offers something for everyone—combining quality ingredients, passionate cooking, and a genuine love of Italian hospitality.

RACE DESCRIPTION: Run over a mile and one furlong, this contest for fillies who are four-year-olds and older is a Group 2 contest and will attract some of the best around this season Unlike in a handicap when a horse’s official rating reflects the weight that they must carry, in a Group 2 all runners carry the same weight regardless of any previous form In this case, 9st is the mark, although any runner which has already won a Group 2 race will be issued with a 3lb penalty and any winner of a Group 1 contest is given a 5lb penalty to shoulder.

PRECISE was impressive in the Fillies’ Mile over C&D when last seen and should be hard to beat with further improvement on the cards this year Venetian Sun wasn’t seen to best effect behind the selection when losing her unbeaten record in the Moyglare and may provide the main threat, with the fact her dam stayed 1 1/4m suggesting 1m should be within range. The selection’s stablemate True Love, exciting maiden winnerAbashiri and Inis Mor, who shaped well in the Nell Gwyn, complete the shortlist.

At Newmarket Racecourses we believe racing should be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. And one thing is certainly true, the more relaxed and comfortable we feel, the more likely we are to have a great time. So that’s why we’ve created one very simple piece of guidance, to come “dressed to feel your best”.
We’re all unique, and no more so than in our sense of style and comfort. For some, wearing a nice sweatshirt, pair of jeans and clean trainers is what makes them feel confident and at-ease. For others, they might prefer to turn heads with a sharp suit or glamorous dress and high heels, particularly for one of our big race meetings
But whatever your tastes, the most important thing when choosing your outfit is, of course, comfort and confidence. So wear what feels right for you and will keep you feeling your best from start to finish, whatever the weather. Here’s some other useful tips and advice for making sure your time with us is as memorable as possible.
Fancy dress can often add colour and fun to our racedays, but please avoid inappropriate or offensive outfits, as anything deemed vulgar or derogatory may be refused entry.
We love other sports as much as anyone, but showing allegiance to a favourite club can sometimes appear antagonistic So, to keep things simple, please refrain from wearing team kits when attending one of our racedays.

The Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB) has allocated £77.1m in prizemoney for 2026
Since 2000 HBLB has invested £1.5bn in prize money to support the British horseracing industry
The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards In addition Newmarket Racecourses employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital
