The Jockey Club would like to thank our Group Partners for their support in 2024

As a leading distributor of horse feed, bedding and supplements in the greater GCC area, I am once again immensely proud to support the Jockey Club at Newmarket Racecourses for the 2024 season. Newmarket is credited as being where thoroughbred racing first started which is why so many from every corner of the world assemble and appreciate The Rowley Mile and The July Course.

As ever, the enthusiasm of Sophie Able and her team at Newmarket translates into a top class service for Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and Stable Staff and for that we are deeply grateful.

I would like to wish all those visiting Newmarket throughout the 2024 season, the very best of luck.

Have a wonderful day at the races today.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

AN INTERVIEW WITH

RICKY ROSS

You’re no stranger to a Jockey Club Live show, having played a huge sold-out date at Aintree Racecourse in 2016 - what is it about summer open air shows that you enjoy? There was a magical atmosphere the last time we played at Aintree and it’s often the case that something special happens on summer evenings When you have the moon and stars as added lighting effects, anything can happen!

All The Old 45s is celebrating the best of Deacon Blue - what was it like going through your back catalogue to create the anthology? Are there any tracks you’ve particularly enjoyed revisiting?

After we released the album we recorded a bonus CD of acoustic versions of songs from almost every album. Chocolate Girl and Cover From The Sky were two of the singles we reinvented and we’ve kept doing these versions live over the last year

Newmarket Racecourse is in Suffolk, close to Cambridge - do you have any particular memories or anecdotes of touring the region previously?

We’ve played in Cambridge many times. In the early days we played College Summer balls to kids in penguin suits and frocks More recently we loved playing The Corn Exchange there It’s a venue made for great sound and atmosphere I hope we get to come back too.

For those who haven’t seen Deacon Blue live before, what can we expect from your Newmarket Nights headline show?

We try to make every night unique. I often say that we want to give people the best night of their lives, and honestly, that’s what we want to do Playing live in a band of friends is a great privilege and we enjoy being able to share that joy with audiences every night we get a chance to play

On behalf of my Company Jenningsbet I would like to extend a warm welcome to everybody at Newmarket today.

We are the UK`s largest Independent Bookmaker with shops nationwide including every London Borough.

Over this weekend over 500 of our customers are making the journey to the July Course on coach trips organised by our wonderful managers & I hope every one of them has a great day & backs a few winners!

As well as one of our flagship shops being on Newmarket High Street , we can also be found locally in Halstead, Sudbury, Bishops Stortford & Peterborough.

Horseracing is the lifeblood of our business and that is why I think it is important to support the British Racing Industry and as well as sponsoring this Summers weekend finale we have also collaborated with the National Association of Racing Staff (NARS) to fund educational courses for their members.

Good luck to everyone and I hope to see you in a Jenningsbet shop soon!

Cairdeas took a step forward from his debut when third at Salisbury and is feared most, with Made The Cut the pick of the newcomers.

PLAY SMARTER

A tightly-knit sprint handicap with the vote going to CLASSIC, who admittedly finished behind a couple of these in the Golden Mile Handicap at Goodwood, but he didn’t get a clear run on more than one occasion and, with the strong likelihood of him being seen to better effect here, he’s taken to open his account for the season. Waiting All Night and Darkness head the opposition, though cases can be made for just about all.
