AFTERNOON RACING
FRIDAY 25TH AUGUST 2023
Official Racecard - £3.50
SUMMER
A warm welcome to the July Course the penultimate summer afternoon of racing here before we move back to the Rowley Mile.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jenningsbet for their generous support of this afternoon’s card We have six races to look forward to today featuring substantial field sizes.
Away from the racing, we encourage racegoers to enjoy the expanse of food and drink opportunities available across the course Turn to the map page in this racecard for more information
We are very much looking forward to the final of our Summer Saturday fixtures tomorrow, with a great card of racing packed with action, including the historic Newmarket Town Plate – a race that’s been a part of our horse racing heritage since 1666
As always, children under 18 go free, with tickets still available to purchase on our website www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/newmarket
Looking ahead to September, we move back to the Rowley Mile for our Autumn Season of racing. There are always key pointers in the juvenile races, whilst top class handicaps and Group 1 races take centre stage. For the first time, our Cambridgeshire Meeting, taking place 28th to 30th September, will feature an Oktoberfest extravaganza, with something for everyone to enjoy. Tickets start from just £10, so head to our website for more information and to purchase your tickets in advance
The highlight of the Autumn season, the Dubai Future Champions Festival takes place 13th and 14th October. The highly anticipated Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes takes place on the Saturday, a race which gives key clues to the QIPCO 2000 Guineas the following year Tickets start from just £10
Across the season, we would like to thank the European Breeders Fund for their contributions to prize money and Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai for their continued sponsorship of our Owners and Trainers facility.
I do hope you have a very enjoyable afternoon with us, and I wish all the horses and their connections the very best of luck.
Warm wishes,
Sophie Able

BETTING EXPLAINED
Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number
Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.
‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.
Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.
Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.
Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

As a leading distributor of horse feed, bedding and supplements in the greater GCC area, I am once again immensely proud to support the Jockey Club at Newmarket Racecourses for the 2023 season.
Newmarket is credited as being where thoroughbred racing first started which is why so many from every corner of the world assemble and appreciate The Rowley Mile and The July Course.
As ever, the enthusiasm of Sophie Able and her team at Newmarket translates into a top class service for Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and Stable Staff and for that we are deeply grateful.
I would like to wish all those visiting Newmarket throughout the 2023 season, the very best of luck.
Have a wonderful day at the races today.

PLAY SMARTER
TWILIGHT DANCER is firmly on the up and escapes a penalty for her comfortable success at Salisbury 9 days ago, so she gets the nod over the reliable Annie Law. Martini Nights finished well at Newcastle last time and, if she can get going early enough, she’s likely to be involved.

BROADWAY ACT looked a sure-fire future winner when runner-up over C&D on his recent debut and can go one better before tackling better company in the autumn (holds entries in Champagne and Royal Lodge Stakes) Newcomer Jayarebe also holds some lofty entries so could emerge as the chief threat to Charlie Appleby’s Too Darn Hot colt, although both Blown Away and Midair bring a fair bit of potential too.
