EVENING RACING
Official Racecard - £3.50
4TH AUGUST 2023
FRIDAY
SUMMER
A warm welcome to the July Course for a summer evening of racing.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Racing TV and the Sir Henry Cecil Newmarket Open Weekend for their generous support of this evening’s card Giving exclusive behind the scenes access to British horseracing’s HQ, Newmarket Open Weekend is an action-packed weekend of events. Run over Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September, tickets are available now to purchase at www thehenrycecilopenweekend.co.uk
Looking ahead, the Newmarket Nights series will continue at the July Course, with further concerts from Olly Murs and McFly later in the summer, with tickets for all these events selling fast, and available through our website, www.thejockeyclub co.uk/newmarket
We also look forward to another of our Summer Saturday fixtures tomorrow, with a great card of racing to look forward to. The Series will then continue on Saturday 19th August, where there will be plenty of action on the track for all to enjoy including the Grey Horse Handicap, which takes centre stage as a field of only grey horses come thundering down the track. The following week then sees our final Summer Saturday, with family entertainment, along with the historic Newmarket Town Plate, which has been run here at the home of horse racing since 1666.
Children under 18 go free, with tickets still available to purchase on our website
Across the season, we would like to thank the European Breeders Fund for their contributions to prize money and Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai for their continued sponsorship of our Owners and Trainers facility.
I do hope you have a very enjoyable evening with us, and I wish all the horses and their connections the very best of luck
Warm wishes,
Sophie Able Newmarket Racecourses and International Director

As a leading distributor of horse feed, bedding and supplements in the greater GCC area, I am once again immensely proud to support the Jockey Club at Newmarket Racecourses for the 2023 season.
Newmarket is credited as being where thoroughbred racing first started which is why so many from every corner of the world assemble and appreciate The Rowley Mile and The July Course.
As ever, the enthusiasm of Sophie Able and her team at Newmarket translates into a top class service for Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and Stable Staff and for that we are deeply grateful.
I would like to wish all those visiting Newmarket throughout the 2023 season, the very best of luck.
Have a wonderful day at the races today.

Penalised LAKE FOREST sets a clear standard on his second in the Group 2 July Stakes and is by far the one to beat. King’s Gamble is an interesting newcomer though, and Infinity Blue is bred to do a lot better than what he showed on debut.

Probable S.P’s: 9-4 Shazam (IRE), 6-1 Ragosina (GB), 13-2 Raqisa (GB), Sea Me Dance (GB), 8-1 Roadway (USA), 12-1 Sid’s Annie (GB), 14-1 Pure Gold (GB), 18-1 Moogie (GB)
PLAY SMARTER
TIMEFORM
RAQISA faces no easy task against the 3-y-os but she’s a mare in top form and would have finished even closer from this mark at Windsor last month granted more luck. She gets the vote in favour of hat-trick seeking filly Shazam and Ragosina.

DOOM was beaten only a head by subsequent Oaks winner Soul Sister at Doncaster on her final 2-y-o outing and, with better still to come this year given her exceptional pedigree, she gets the nod to open her account. Whispering Words is a well-made filly who seems sure to leave her debut form well behind, while Imperial Quarter makes most appeal of the newcomers before market clues.
