WELCOME TO THE 2021 LADBROKES WINTER CARNIVAL It gives me great pleasure to be writing to you as we approach the fifth year of the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival, one of the highlights of the jumping calendar, which Newbury looks forward to hosting on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 November 2021. The Ladbrokes Trophy has an illustrious history with a roll of honour comprising some of the biggest names in jumping and has continued to deliver compelling storylines since Ladbrokes became associated with the meeting in 2017 and their continued support is gratefully received. Last year’s race produced a hugely popular result when Cloth Cap, trained by Jonjo O’Neill, made all the running to establish owner Trevor Hemmings as the race’s winning-most owner with three victories and take jockey Tom Scudamore level with Willie Robinson, the only other jockey to win the race three times in the 1960s. Mr Hemmings also won the Ladbrokes Trophy with Trabolgan in 2005 and Many Clouds in 2014 and we were deeply saddened to learn of his passing recently. It would be a fitting tribute to one of jump racing’s staunchest supporters should Cloth Cap return to Newbury and claim a second Ladbrokes Trophy success. Unfortunately last year’s race had to be staged behind-closed-doors, but following the lifting of restrictions, we are looking forward to welcoming back crowds this year for what usually signals

the start of the festive period. Preparations are well underway for this year’s fixture when over £700,000 in prize-money will be on offer with Friday’s highlight the £60,000 Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle providing the appetiser to the £250,000 Ladbrokes Trophy on Saturday. On Tuesday 16 November we will once again be hosting our annual gallops morning which is open to trainers with potential runners across the two days of the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival, so please save the date in your diaries. Once again we will be offering a travel allowance for any overseas runners, details of which are outlined on the adjacent pages along with the conditions of all races and a breakdown of prizemoney. Your support has helped underpin the status of the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival and we look forward to welcoming more of your runners to Newbury as we wish you the very best for the season ahead.

GENERAL INFORMATION OVERSEAS RUNNERS Any overseas runners across the two days will be granted with following travel allowance based on the following criteria: £750 will be allocated to any overseas runner in the following races. The horse must be declared, run and not collect any prize money to qualify: - The Ladbrokes Novices' Chase (Class 1) (Grade 2) 4+ £50,000 2m 4f - The Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle (Class 1) (Grade 2) 4+ £60,000 3m ½f - The Ladbrokes Mares' Novices' Hurdle (Class 1) (Listed Race) 4+ £25,000 2m ½f - The Ladbrokes John Francome Novices' Chase (Class 1) (Grade 2) 4+ £50,000 2m 7½f - The Ladbrokes Trophy Chase (Handicap) (Class 1) (Grade 3) 4+ £250,000 3m 2f - The Ladbrokes Intermediate Hurdle (A Limited Handicap) (Class 1) (Listed Race) 4+ £50,000 2m ½f - £450 will be allocated to any overseas runner in any of the supporting races across the two days. The horse must be declared, run and not collect any prize money to qualify. Airport transfers will be provided for any connections with overseas runners who are declared to run on either Friday 26 November or Saturday 27 November 2021. BADGE ALLOCATION: We offer six badges for every runner in single ownership and ten badges for syndicates/partnerships, which can be collected from either the official Owners Club VIP entrance, located in Car Park 2 or the Owners & Trainers entrance in Car Park 4. Additional badges can be purchased for half price. OWNERS AND TRAINERS FACILITIES: We are delighted to welcome owners back to the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival, for the full experience across the weekend. On arrival, please make your way to the main Owners Club Entrance, located in Car Park 2, where you will be greeted by our staff who will be able to show you around. Up to six lunch vouchers per horse will be issued, which are valid for the restaurant in The Owners Club. Owners with lunch vouchers will be able to enjoy a complimentary two course lunch with food service operating from gates opening. We would encourage you to book in advance through Claire Ricketts, Owners & Trainers Coordinator via ownertrainers@newburyracecourse.co.uk or 01635 40015 STAFF: All stable staff with valid ID will be provided with a complimentary voucher entitling them to a hot meal (breakfast or lunch) with free tea, coffee and water available all day in The Lodge.
