EVENING RACEDAY

EVENING RACEDAY
How
Newbury Racecourse is delighted to offer all racegoers free use of our Wi-Fi service.
Good evening and a very warm welcome to the BetVictor Evening Raceday.
To begin, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors: Pump Technology, Racing Club, our new partners Gold Scaffolders, and the title sponsor of this evening’s meeting, BetVictor.
This evening’s action features some of the top jockeys in the sport, including William Buick, Oisin Murphy, Tom Marquand, and Rossa Ryan - all hoping to add a few more winners to their already successful seasons. The opening race is a fillies’ maiden for newcomers, with 11 two-year-olds declared. Among them is Corallience, trained by David Menuisier, who was purchased for €125,000 as a yearling at Deauville. Her dam is a 1m4f Listed winner and a half-sister to Derby winner Harzand.
We’re also thrilled to welcome you to Filly’s, our brand-new sparkling wine bar in partnership with Chapel Down. Located next to the Hampshire Stand, Filly’s has already become a favourite among racegoers. Be sure to stop by for this evening’s Pump It Up After Party following the last race.
2025 marks our biggest year of music yet, with four spectacular music racedays across July, August, and September Following the success of Weatherbys Super Sprint Day, we’re excited to welcome Björn Again on Friday 15th August, Clean Bandit on Saturday 16th August for Visit Malta Hungerford Day, and James Bay on Saturday 20th September as part of the Dubai Duty Free International Weekend. Discounted tickets and hospitality packages are available for a limited time. Don’t miss out - the Early Bird ticket deadline for James Bay is 11:59pm this Friday (8th August).
We’re delighted to announce the return of our Christmas parties this year, taking place on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th December Availability is limited across both dates, so if you’re seeking a unique, themed venue for your festive celebrations, we’ve got you covered. To find out more, please follow the link in the advert featured later in the racecard.
Finally, thank you to all our racegoers for joining us today. We hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable evening and look forward to welcoming you back on Friday 15th August for the Summer August Raceday, with Björn Again live after racing.
Shaun Hinds Chief Executive
There are plenty of ways to bet at Newbury – you can either bet with the bookmakers in the ‘ring’ in front of the Grandstand and the Crafty Filly, at one of the many Totepool kiosks or in one of our Betting Shops, located on the ground floor of the Dubai Duty Free Grandstand and the Berkshire Stand. Here’s a step-by-step guide of what to do:
1. Select your horse and note its name and racecard number.
2. Choose your bet –‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are the two most common types:
• ‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.
• ‘Each-way’ is when you place two bets in one: one for your horse to come first, the other for it to be placed. Therefore £2 each-way = £4 total bet.
• What qualifies as a ‘place’ depends on the number of runners: between two and four runners - first place only; between five and seven runners - first and second place; eight runners and over - first three places; 16 runners and over (handicaps only) - first four places.
• The place part of the bet will be paid out at a fraction of the odds, usually a quarter or a fifth - this varies depending on the bookmaker, so check if you are unsure!
3. Decide the amount, also known as the stake that you are comfortable to bet.
4. Choose your outlet and place your bet e.g. “£2 win on number three” or “£2 each-way on number six”.
5. If your horse has won, wait to hear “weighed in” over the public address system and then go and collect any winnings!
6. Got so swept up you forgot to collect your cash? There are details of how to collect winning slips after the raceday on our terms and conditions page near the back of the racecard.
